    Just my take and consider it.

    This government has for a long time and in many ways found a way to flim-flam the American people when we get riled up and demand action.

    If it's welfare, they will find the least egregious case and a person who really needs it, but their 'papers aren't in order', throw them off welfare. They make sure to have the news media there to smear it all over the country.

    If it's illegals, they will find a most sympathetic case and do the same.

    They do this a couple of times, and the news media keeps it alive with all manner of interviews with activists and politicians, and suddenly things cool down and it's business as usual.

    OR

    They pass some law that is just a workaround. It usually sounds really good, and makes people think it does something. In reality, it's nothing - but if the government and news media pushes hard enough, we will decide maybe it does 'something'.

    I believe that is what e-verify is.

    Why then do we think this program does anything? With some teeth it might, and I'm thinking most people think it has teeth.

    Again, if you have something in place that allows employers to hide behind, use to say they are 'complying', but it does nothing - then it's worse than nothing. If we realize we have nothing, then we might continue to push for something to be done. If, however, we swallow they are doing 'at least something', we stop.

    Think about it, has the government done anything - anything to fix the illegal problem? The answer is no - so why would we accept this as any kind of aid to combating it?

    We need to know our government is going to do nothing. They are fighting us tooth and toenail and have been for three decades. Anything they do will be against us and for the illegals/employers.

    It's reverse discrimination what's going on. It's illegal special treatment and favoritism to accommodate criminal elements, criminal organizations, drug dealers, cartels, all foreign enterprises.

    The biggest criminals are the politicians who have protected and supported this for over three decades and the employers who hire them.

    ICE Fines Company $2 Million

    Atrium Companies, the owner of Champion Windows and Advanced Containment Systems, agreed to settle a case with Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) for $2 million as a result of a pattern and practice of hiring illegal aliens.


    An I-9 audit, conducted by ICE
    – Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in February 2011, revealed 269 of Champion’s 451-person workforce consisted of undocumented aliens. Many employees’ I-9 documentation had numerous “egregiously suspect” errors, such as misspellings of agency names and/or containing the words “novelty item.” In November 2009, Thereafter, at the request of the government, all of the undocumented aliens were terminated from Champion by the end of April 2011.


    The ICE HSI investigation also revealed that, since acquiring Champion, management at Atrium had become aware of the possibility of large numbers of undocumented aliens being employed at Champion’s Houston factory.

    A follow-up audit conducted by ICE HSI of Atrium Companies’ remaining 12 subsidiaries in May 2011 revealed that about 8.3 percent of the parent company’s 3,382 employees (excluding Champion employees) were undocumented aliens. All of these workers were terminated within a matter of weeks.


    Atrium received multiple notices from the Social Security Administration (SSA) known as “no-match letters,” which indicated employee names and Social Security numbers did not match SSA records. The companies failed to take any corrective measures, resulting in the continued employment of the undocumented aliens.


    The ICE announcement reported that since December 2010, Atrium Companies has revised its immigration compliance procedures to include new policies concerning the proper completion, retention and auditing of I-9 forms and for responding to SSA no match letters. Under the terms of the agreement, Atrium Companies must also hire a full-time chief compliance officer and continue to consult with immigration counsel in order to ensure the legality of its workforce.

    That will depend on the rules they enact with the law. It's all in the wording.
