REP. MILLER SUPPORTS ARIZONA EFFORTS TO DENY CITIZENSHIP

REP. MILLER SUPPORTS ARIZONA EFFORTS TO DENY CITIZENSHIP TO ANCHOR BABIES

    US Fed News
    June 19, 2010
    WASHINGTON, D.C.

Rep. Gary Miller, R-Calif. (42nd CD), issued the following news release:

The author of the Arizona immigration law, State Senator Russell Pearce, will soon introduce legislation in the Arizona State Senate to deny citizenship to anchor babies.

Birthright citizenship is yet another loophole in our laws that encourages and facilitates illegal immigration.

In fact, approximately 200,000 to 300,000 babies are born to illegal immigrants each year.

By granting children of illegal immigrants automatic citizenship, the child can eventually anchor an entire family in the United States, even though they gained access to our nation illegally.

In addition, the child - and potentially their family - then have access to a wide array of taxpayer-funded benefits, including access to a U.S. education and recently enacted government-run health care.

It is unfair to grant birthright citizenship to children of illegal immigrants because it undermines the intention of the 14th Amendment and rewards those that have recklessly broken our nation's immigration laws.

Congressman Miller is the first sponsor of House legislation which will deny citizenship to anchor babies and spoke to Senator Pearce this week about efforts to end this unfair practice.

Congressman Miller highly commends Senator Pearce for his efforts to close this loophole at the state level and looks forward to working with him on this issue.

Glad that he is speaking up. However his statistics are questionable - I suspect much more in terms of anchor babies being born - so many entities are not allowed to keep statistics on these situations that everything is merely speculative - I think that the true magnitude is understated for nefarious political reasons.

This man lives in LA County so he is being especially brave considering his location. I LOVE this guy!

    Once again, from Wikipedia:

In 2005, Miller co-sponsored The Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005 (H.R. 4437) with representative Jim Sensenbrenner. In 2006, after widespread demonstrations by immigrants, Miller wrote: "Too bad their protest didn't include giving up government-paid social services — because a day without illegal aliens would be a boon to U.S. taxpayers."[2]

YOU KNOW, I FIND IT AWFUL FUNNY THAT WHEN EVER A BABY IS BORN TO A PERSON OF COLOR AND A PERSON OF ANOTHER RACE, THAT CHILD IS CONSIDERED BY LAW TO BE BLACK HENCE (THE ONE DROP OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN BLOOD). BUT WHEN A BABY IS BORN TO PARENTS WHO ARE IN THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY, THAT CHILD IS GRANTED CITIZENSHIP VIA THE U.S. GOVERNMENT. IMO, I THINK THAT AS LONG AS BOTH PARENTS ARE ILLEGAL, THEN THEIR OFF SPRING SHOULD BE CONSIDERED ILLEGAL ALSO AND THERE FORE HE/SHE SHOULD NOT BE GRANTED CITIZENSHIP.
