RGV Border Patrol Agents Rescue 5 Illegal Aliens

(Tuesday, August 02, 2011)

Edinburg, Texas ─ With much of the nation locked in a blistering heat wave, the number of illegal aliens who require assistance because of extreme temperatures is on the rise. On August 1 and 2, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias Station have rescued five illegal aliens, who were attempting to traverse the harsh south Texas brush country.

The first rescue occurred on August 1, when agents assigned to the Falfurrias Station were notified by a Brooks County 911 dispatcher that a group of illegal aliens had called requesting assistance. Agents located the group, which consisted of four illegal aliens from Mexico, on a ranch near Encino, Texas.

In a similar incident on August 2, agents rescued another illegal alien from Mexico after he called 911. Agents located the man near an air strip south of FM 755.

None of the five people rescued required medical attention and they will be processed for return to Mexico. So far this fiscal year, agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector have saved the lives of more than 150 illegal aliens.
