    Trump hits Twitter for Christmas

    Trump hits Twitter for Christmas

    By Ian Swanson

Donald Trump was on Twitter for Christmas to for a second day in a row take credit for reports that the Obama administration is planning an effort to deport illegal immigrants.

Trump has put illegal immigration at the center of his presidential campaign since announcing his White House bid in June.

Now, just more than a month before the Iowa caucuses, Trump is the clear favorite to win the GOP nomination.

He’s well ahead in polls of New Hampshire, which holds its GOP primary on Feb. 9.

First come the Iowa caucuses, where some polls have shown Trump falling behind Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Twitter has been a key part of Trump’s strategy for winning the Republican nomination.

He frequently uses the instant messaging platform to reach his more than 5 million followers, bypassing traditional media.

On Dec. 24, he unleashed a tweetstorm of criticism directed at Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton and the news media.

News reports on Thursday said the Obama administration was planning immigration raids to deport some of the people from Central America who have entered the United States in recent years.

Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who are battling for the Democratic presidential nomination, were critical of the reports.

Trump, in contrast, took credit for the administration’s reported plans. He stated that the raids were a response to the pressure he has placed on the government.

Trump also tweeted about Bush, a favorite foil.

What heat? Taking advantage of an issue that the American people are pissed off about, and rightfully so, isn't really taking the heat. If anything, the heat is what the opposition is being forced to deal with. Furthermore, I think it is a little naive to think any candidate is "always" working for and thinking of us. Sorry if I've become a little jaded over the last several decades but I think there has been good reason. I support Trump and he's my #1 choice right now, but I just can't bring myself to go into the cheerleader mode and give Trump credit for absolutely everything that 'appears' to be going in our favor. Moreover, I think the Obama administration has an ulterior motive for this that has yet to be completely revealed. If you really plan on rounding up illegals in a meaningful way, you don't send out an announcement to warn them and their supporters in advance. Doing so can't be considered normal operating procedure. Just my thoughts, for what they're worth.

There is nothing going in our favor. We just removed 28 candidates from our support list, because Congress passed a $1.1 trillion Omnibus bill that funds everything we oppose on the issues of illegal and excess immigration. Obama legally admitted over 3,000,000 immigrants in 2015. All 3 Democrat candidates for President in 2016 support full amnesty 100%. The number 2 candidate in the Republican race is someone who introduced multiple bills in 2013 that would have doubled the number of green cards per year and increased H1B visas by 500%, and he supported legalization of illegal aliens already in the country. Everyone else in the Republican race supports amnesty in some form and more immigration on some level as does every major newspaper and media organization in the country as illegal aliens and more immigrants pour in.

Solid supporters "cheerlead" for their candidate, because they're all in for them and want them to win. That's why they drive hours to see them at rallies donned in hats and t-shirts, put signs in their yards and bumper stickers on their cars. It's why they blog in favor of them and call in to talk radio to defend and promote them, it's why they write letters to the editors on their behalf and go door to door campaigning for them, because they want their candidate to win.

People who may like the candidate for one reason or another but aren't all in don't do that.

I'm all in for Trump because of his positions on immigration and trade and has both the will and skill to fix our country.

The fact that he packs heat, throws a fast ball, does math in his head and wants to add on a nice ball room to the White House for nice events rounds him out to a Mr. Cool, I'd be proud to call Mr. President.

According to your definition, Trump supports amnesty too.

    Trump said:

I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legal…. A lot of these people are helping us … and sometimes it’s jobs a citizen of the United States doesn’t want to do. I want to move ’em out, and we’re going to move ’em back in and let them be legal.

That sounds just like the old 'touchback' policy that was pushed for in 2007. Yes, it is amnesty.

There is also his merit system.

    Trump said:

Trump tells TMZ, he'd create a "system of merit," saying people here illegally should have "a road to legal status" if they work hard and contribute to the country.

Yes, the so-called "merit system" is also amnesty.

My point is, during his campaign Trump has proposed two different amnesty programs. So, according to your criteria, is it accurate to exclude him from the list of amnesty supporters? Probably not. If Cruz deserves to be on the list for something he has said in the past, so does Trump.

Mr Trump has definitely blazed the trail for "no amnesty" talk and speaking out about the abuses American citizens are forced to endure.

O & DHS have come up with this latest ploy - they really won't be tackling large numbers. Without a doubt, they are trying to counteract Mr Trumps revelations, make it look like they are doing something when we all know they are law breaking enablers.

Those that are forced to leave or leave on their own because they cannot legally work here would have to apply to come back legally. We already have a waiting list, so they would be put at the bottom. In the interim, they will find work in their country and maybe not return at all. Hopefully the so called anchor baby thing will be clarified and mother & children exit to their countries also.

It is best left as described (come back LEGALLY) rather than bring all details out that will cause more hatred and slandering pre-election. Good enough for me.

Yes, absolutely, I agree 100%, it's what Trump calls "management".

Neither one of Trump's proposals are amnesty, because they have to leave. After they're out, then whatever happens in the future when or if they ever come back in legally, is just that, someone coming in legally, if "they're helping us". All the evidence says they aren't helping us, they're stealing jobs, running drugs, signing up for welfare, draining our school budgets, committing crimes, and a host of other issues that are not helping us. So, once they're all out, and if there's some need for legal immigrants, then that will be dealt with according to law at the time. Who knows when or if anyone will ever let them back in. Trump can't let them back in under current law once they're out. That would be up to Congress.

If you like Cruz and want to "cheerlead" for him, MW, that's fine. But comparing a deportation program with some remote possibility that some might be able to return at some point after they leave or are deported AND whenever Congress would see fit to change the law to allow it, is not the same thing as "amnesty". After all, a deported illegal alien is not eligible to return to the United States for a long time under current immigration law and under Trump's plan "we have to move 'em out".

So no, Trump is definitely not on the amnesty list, because Trump wants to deport them ... all, families intact, as a "single unit".

Trump will do a great job ending this illegal immigration mess and complete deportations within 2 years.
