    Salvadoran immigrants eligible for TPS

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on Tuesday outlined details on how Salvadorans can re-apply for Temporary Protected Status.

Earlier this year, the immigration service agreed to continue TPS for an estimated 234,000 Salvadorans in the United States. Under TPS, certain undocumented immigrants from a country in crisis are eligible for temporary protection from deportation. They have to be specifically designated for the protection by the U.S. government. Under the extension, Salvadorans who had previously registered for TPS can reapply for 18 more months, until March 9, 2009. The reregistration period began Tuesday and ends Oct. 22.

Crisis!!! Why because its a big drug cartel country? I disagree to this service to El Salvadorans! If these people would go to there own government in those number to push change on there own corrupt government!!! Why do we have to fix the worlds problems and be the crisis counselor? Got back to your own country!!!

Might be. There was a hurricane there back in the 80's, too. It's hard to keep track.

I vote that US citizens need a Temporary Protected Status from the Salvadorans.
