    SAN DIEGO -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection wants to beef up the number of officers it has in San Diego.

    A hiring event was held Wednesday in Old Town.

    The agency wants to bring in more than 300 officers in the San Diego area, officials said.

    The present workforce is stretched too thin, especially after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

    Women are especially encouraged to apply, an agency representative said.

    Applications are being accepted until Jan. 5.

    after what happened to IGNACIO RAMOS AND JOSE CAMPEON
    who wants to be a border patrol agent., cuz one false chase or
    one discharge of a weapon can land your butt in jail for 11 and 12years
