U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the San Luis Port of Entry seized nearly 54 pounds of cocaine on Wednesday, which had an estimated street value of $491,400.

According to a news release issued by Customs and Border Protection, a 41-year-old Mexican male from San Luis Rio Colorado, Son., attempted to enter the United States through the vehicle lanes at the San Luis port.

A CBP officer sent the man to secondary inspection after observing behavior not consistent with the reasons the man gave for entering the country. While in secondary a narcotics detection canine alerted to the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle CBP officers found 22 packages of cocaine. The man was taken into custody and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation and will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
