Sarah Palin says Obama lacks guts on illegal immigration

Sarah Palin says Obama lacks guts on illegal immigration

    By Matt DeLong
    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Monday, August 2, 2010; A06

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said Sunday that Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) has "the cojones" that President Obama "does not have" to take on illegal immigration.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Palin (R) blasted Obama over the Justice Department's lawsuit to block Arizona's controversial new law and attacked him in particular for not addressing "sanctuary cities" -- where local law enforcement is prohibited from asking people about their immigration status. Arizona's law bans sanctuary cities.

Palin said the president and congressional Democrats "are all wet" on plans to let the George W. Bush administration's tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans expire. "It's idiotic to think about increasing taxes at a time like this," Palin said. She added that her "palm isn't large enough" to write all her notes down, and she proceeded to read notes about tax policy from a sheet of paper.

Palin declined to address "fickle" polls showing that she remains unpopular with independents. "I don't blame people for not knowing what I stand for," Palin said. "If I believed everything I read in the media, I wouldn't like me either."

Palin said her family has been avoiding their front yard and "certain angles" in their home after an investigative reporter moved in next door. She said her family has changed its behavior as a result of his arrival, and she accused the reporter, Joe McGinniss, of infringing its privacy and trying to "hamper some of our freedom."

"Some people need to get a life," Palin said.

I saw a little bit of her today on my local news station. She really went after Obama and praised Gov. Brewer. She also said 44 other States agreed and backed Gov. Brewer's crack down on Illegal Aliens.

It was the first time I have heard Palin speak out against Illegal Immigration.Maybe she has finally become "educated".

I think she is just seeing which way the political winds are blowing, in many states cracking down on illegals is a winning issue.

You may be right but I don't hear any other potential Repub. Presidential candidate standing up for Citizens/States when it comes to Illegal Aliens.

I think that we are going to hear more and more politicans come out against illegal immigration. The climate has changed it is not all about being PC anymore. I am hoping that our politicans are coming down off of their ivory towers and listening and researching what American citizens are saying.

Take Sarah Palin is she playing politics or is her traveling across this country and talking to Americans the reason for change.

I have to think that most of our elected officials started out with the best of intentions. I have to think they love this country and are sickened when they see a foreign flag flown in our streets or when foreign countries try to dictate our laws.
