Saul Arreano in Washington for immigration hearings
September 6, 2007 - The son of a deported Mexican immigrant is in Washington, D.C.. to watch the immigration hearings.

Eight-year-old Saul Arellano is a U.S. citizen.

He spent time in Mexico with his mother, Elvira Arellano, who was deported in August.

She had taken refuge at church on Chicago's West Side for a year while fighting to stay in the United States.

Today, Saul is at the hearings on immigration reform that his mother was fighting for.

Elvira planned to be in Washington, D.C., to lead a day of prayer next week. Her son is expected to represent her.

thats funny. i guess his momma is lying again when she said she was going to put him in school in mexico so he can learn spanish and be near her parents and other relatives

What idot in Congress invited this child? Time to send him to be with his mother.

There are many-many children that have been turned into sideshows by their parents for political reasons and often those children rebel and stop associating with their parents.

Saul will be on our side by the time he is 20.

I completely agree and will take that bet Dixie. An 8 year old, I believe, knows he is being used. In his mind he was 'sent away' from his mother again.

So he is missing like a week of school for this? Is the movement providing a tutor? Did his poor teacher have to provide a packet of work? He will miss so much. He will not bond with his classmates. Crazy...
