Men plead guilty to running prostitution ring

POLICE

MYRTLE BEACH

Two Myrtle Beach men pleaded guilty in federal court to charges they ran a prostitution ring, prosecutors said.

Estella Aguilar-Ortiz and Martin Carbajal-Servin, both 43, are charged with conspiracy to entice an individual to travel in interstate commerce to engage in prostitution.

Authorities say the men operated a house of prostitution in the Myrtle Beach area using women who were from Mexico and the Dominican Republic and were in the United States illegally.

Different women were brought to Myrtle Beach on a weekly basis and usually stayed a week at Carbajal-Servin and Aguilar-Ortiz's mobile home, authorities said.

Aguilar-Ortiz and Carbajal-Servin face up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $250,000.

Also in federal court, Filiberto Vergara-Medina, 24, pleaded guilty to illegally re-entering the United States in June after being deported to his native Mexico.

The Myrtle Beach man was first caught trying to get into the country in April of 2005 and again in June 2006.

He faces up to two years in prison.
