Sunrise: Report: Coach was deportee
October 7, 2008
Delroy D. Green, the high school soccer coach arrested on a marijuana possession charge last week, is a deportee who returned to this country illegally, according to an arrest report released Monday.
Green has been a soccer coach at Chaminade-Madonna Preparatory School in Hollywood since 2003, Principal Gloria Ramos said. The school didn't know of his immigration problems, she said.
Last Wednesday, Broward Sheriff's detectives working with Immigration and Customs Enforcement went to Green's home in the 10500 block of Northwest 21st Street, according to the report. Green, 39, had been deported earlier to his home country of Jamaica, but returned to the United States in April 2006, the report said.
The detectives arrested Green and found nearly 10 ounces of marijuana in his home.
He has been suspended without pay until the matter is resolved, Ramos said. He is at the Broward Main Jail, on an immigration hold.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

How was he not caught before this? Criminal background checks are required of everyone who works with children.

Probably does not have the same screening as a public school.

The problem is that his visa was only good for a certain length of time and expires. No one must have checked on the expirary date.
