SAN DIEGO: San Diego State University will partner with the city of Tijuana and La Universidad Xochicalco, to work together on issues that affect both sides of the border, from homeland security to emergency response.
A formal signing takes place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Tijuana.

The partnership creates an environment for the universities and Tijuana to collaborate on issues of mutual interest from public health and the environment to international business.

In addition, SDSU's Visualization Center will have a key role in the partnership. For example, the center will use its geographic imaging capabilities to establish ways to enhance emergency responses to natural disasters in the border region, such as wildfires and floods.

At SDSU, the partnership is being led by Provost Nancy Marlin. Tijuana Mayor Kurt Honold-Morales and Secretary of Police Luis Javier Algorri will also be present at the signing.
