Secure Fence Act Mother of All Border Baloney

    The Fence to Nowhere

    By Michelle Malkin • February 28, 2008 08:31 AM

Not that you needed any more evidence from me that the Secure Fence Act was the mother of all border b.s. measures to come out of Washington, but here’s the latest story to add to the pile:

The Bush administration has scaled back plans to quickly build a “virtual fenceâ€

The misrepresentations that come out of this guys mouth are appauling.

At this point I would settle for a bob-wired fence. Can you just build the fence please and stop making promises that you do not intend to ever keep!

    I'm curious

Also part of the story was how Boeing's bid was DESIGNED to be so high that it scared legislators into voting for amnesty. Isn't that just peachy?

Something else NOT noted in this was Chertoff's direct suspension of physical barrier construction after the original bill was passed. To this day, NO concrete reasons have been given as to why construction was halted other than to "analyze the situation".

Could it be any more obvious that Bush's intention was to stonewall the project until an amnesty could be passed? Why was it necessary to spend tens of millions on a pilot project he had NO intention of implementing even if it HAD worked?

There is only one reasonable conclusion I can draw for this: Bush wanted to appear tough, get NOTHING done (if amnesty wasn't passed), yet satisfy the military-industrial machine's budget.

Isn't that exactly what happened? We still don't have a fence, Boeing has tens of millions of taxpayer dollars with little to show for it, and the budgeted spending has been satisfied to justify it (plus an increase) in the next term.

It's one of the more expensive "smokescreens" I've witnessed.
