Sedona man who had $75 million bail pleads guilty

PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- A Sedona resident who had perhaps one of the highest bail amounts in U.S. history has pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted continuous sexual abuse.

The 39-year-old man entered the plea Friday as part of a deal with prosecutors to be sentenced to a lifetime of probation as a sex offender. If he violates that, he can receive a maximum sentence of 15 years on each count. He also could be deported to his native Brazil.

The Associated Press has withheld the man's name to protect the privacy of his children, who were named as victims.

The state appellate court declared his $75 million cash-only bond unconstitutionally excessive. A Yavapai County judge reset it at $2 million cash or security.

Sentencing is set for Dec. 14.

He could be deported? Guess they don't want to separate the family. After all it's been proven he's very close to his kids.

If AZ central were an honest news broker the headline would read.
"Brazilian National living in Sedona pleads guilty to sex abuse"

But the media is not honest.

I'm thinking, "Strings were pulled." This guy must be politically connected.
