Now the Dems will go home and crow to their districts how tough they are on border security.

I hope the Repubs try to pass the SAVE ACT & CLEAR ACT when they return in Sept. then we will see how much the Dems.care about protecting citizens instead of Illegal Aliens.

Statement by Secretary Napolitano on Passage of Southwest Border Bill in the U.S. Senate

    Release Date: August 5, 2010

    For Immediate Release
    Office of the Press Secretary
    Contact: 202-282-8010

"I commend the Senate for passing the Southwest Border bill to add important, permanent resources to continue bolstering security on our Southwest border. These assets are critical to bringing additional capabilities to crack down on transnational criminal organizations and reduce the illicit trafficking of people, drugs, currency and weapons. Over the past eighteen months, this Administration has dedicated unprecedented personnel, technology, and resources to the border and we will continue to take decisive action to disrupt criminal organizations and the networks they exploit. I encourage the House to act quickly on this bill to strengthen our historic border security efforts."

    NO AMNESTY

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.

Yep. They've "gotten tough" before, and then backed off because they couldn't take the criticism on part of the pro-illegal cooks. I'm waiting for the government to be consistently tough. Even if that does happen, a second amnesty won't do.

    Deport all illegal aliens

WE ACCEPT THIS. BUT THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT AMERICANS WILL APPROVE AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS. NO, WE HAVE TO SECURE THE BORDER 100% AND DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS. WE DO NOT SUPPORT AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS. JUST ENFORCE CURRENT IMMIGRATION LAWS AND ILLEGALS WILL LEAVE. WE SUPPORT SB 1070 ACROSS THIS NATION.

Permanent? Almost everything in this is "to remain available until September 30, 2012." How stupid is this woman? She's obviously NOT SMARTER THAN A FIFTH GRADER!

Bills are generally sent to the Library of Congress from the Government Printing Office a day or two after they are introduced on the floor of the House or Senate. Delays can occur when there are a large number of bills to prepare or when a very large bill has to be printed.
    Voice Vote????

    No Text????

    Where's the Transparency?

Devil's in the details. What's hiding in the Senate version that's going to be left in, when it goes to committee? Senate Recess Scheduled for Aug. 9 - Sept. 10, 2010

"The main stumbling block has been how to pay for the increased spending."

funny how the feds can always find money when it comes to spending it for other countries, but to protect our own, they just scratch their heads and act like they just got stupid. Until another natural disaster hits another foreign country and what do you know, we have money to send them. Well illegal immigration is a natural disaster, and it's in this country, not some other country.

I agree with other posters this sounds like more posturing in order to please those voters who aren't informed enough to see through this, yet another sham! Unarmed drones -- are you kidding me? What for? How about land mines, barbed wire and armed and ready to shoot on site border guards

Thanks for that, JohnDoe2, let's just hope they're not just armed with BB guns. A 50-cal and some hand grenades should help. Even some tanks. Eventually the drug cartels are something that will be engaged.
