Senator Schumer is speaking and saying that they have reached a bi- partisan agereement to reopen the government. (22 senators got together.)
They have 17 days to protect the dreamers from deportation.
They have a bi-partisan bill that will get 60 votes.
Senator Durbin says dreamers are civil rights issue of our time.
It is front and center.
I want to especially thank Senators Collins and Murkowski, Flake, Graham.
We have gathered largest group of senators to pass Dream Act.
For the first time in five years bring Dream Act forward.
I hope to be celebrating with you. To all dreamers, don't give up.
(They are not going for DACA illegal aliens, they are going for the Dream Act for millions.)Last edited by GeorgiaPeach; 01-22-2018 at 01:46 PM.

Schumer: We’re Reopening Government With Commitment to Vote on DACA If Deal Isn’t Reached by February 8th
Ian Hanchett
January 22, 2018
During a speech on the Senate floor on Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced a deal has been reached Democrats will vote to reopen the government with a commitment that if an agreement has not been reached by February 8th, there will be immediate consideration of DACA legislation.
Schumer said, “We will vote today to reopen the government, to continue negotiating a global agreement, with the commitment that, if an agreement isn’t reached by February the 8th, the Senate will immediately proceed to consideration of legislation dealing with DACA. The process will be neutral and fair to all sides. We expect that a bipartisan bill on DACA will receive fair consideration and an up or down vote on the floor.”

Dems Align on Plan to Fund Govt, End Shutdown
January 22, 2018
Democrats have yielded and ended their delaying tactics against a bill financing federal agencies through Feb. 8.
In a speech from the Senate floor, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., for whom Republicans have dubbed current stalemate the "Schumer shutdown," confirmed the likelihood just before 12:30 p.m. EST.
"In a few hours, the government will reopen," Schumer said, noting that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has agreed to begin debating immigration by that date.
McConnell said the end to the standoff shows "the American people didn't understand" why Democrats shut down the government because they wanted to help "illegal immigrants."
Several Democratic senators predict a proposal to fund the government until Feb. 8 will move forward, overcoming a Democratic filibuster. That would clear the way for an end to the three-day shutdown.
Democrats appear to have jumped on board after two days of negotiations that ended with new reassurances from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that the Senate will consider immigration proposals in the coming weeks.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar said Monday morning she believed Democrats and Republicans now have "a path forward."
Florida Democrat Bill Nelson is predicting a resounding yes from Democrats on the plan.
The Senate was expected to pass the plan easily, and House approval is expected later.

This is what we need to bring the heat out on. Even if they open debate they would need sixty votes to cut off debate and vote. Am I right? This is how a lot of bills die; they are not able to cut off debate.

That's exactly what they are trying to do. Hopefully, Trump ramps up his deportation promises in the coming days before democrats try their crap again. And hopefully today's blow to the democrats and illegal DACA recipients will now discourage democrats from trying that again, and hopefully just give up on their illegal amnesty push for criminal border crossers.

Unfortunately, unless the GOP gives away the farm to amnesty, I feel we will be right back here on February 8,2017.
