Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ)said the flood of angry calls receded

    Dear NewsMax Reader:

Please find below a special message from our sponsor, Center for Individual Freedom. He has some important information to share with you.

    Thank you.

    NewsMax.com

According to the Washington Post: "Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ) who led negotiations on the [amnesty] bill for his party said the flood of angry calls and protests that greeted the deal two weeks ago has since receded..."

What???? Now wait just a minute... Exactly where is Senator Kyl getting his information?

Obviously not from you, because according to the Associated Press, during the 10-day legislative recess last week Senator Kyl "scheduled no public appearances" back in Arizona. Instead, he spent the majority of his time last week "huddling with party officials in Phoenix."

In fact, contrary to Kyl's public statement in the Post; the Associated Press is reporting that, the Arizona Republican Party is being bombarded with angry calls:

"Brett Mecum, spokesman for the Arizona Republican Party, says that from May 21 through May 25 his office received 1,600 calls from Republicans threatening to tear up their membership cards and join other parties. In 12 years in the business, says Mr. Mecum, he's 'never seen people try to walk away from the party, this irate over one single issue, as last week here.' That volume of calls led Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, to call a press conference to say that the Arizona GOP opposes the proposed law."

In the same Associated Press report, Matt Towery, the CEO of Insider Advantage, a nonpartisan polling firm in Atlanta adds:

"Our research shows that [Kyl and Graham] are delusional if they think that the Republican base, the conservative base, is happy with that bill... I think they're trying to talk themselves into believing that, but it's not working." [Emphasis Mine]
And in the past two weeks, NewsMax.com readers together with CFIF activists sent more than 200,000 Blast Faxes to our elected leaders in Washington -- and that includes Senator Kyl.
Those faxes are having a tremendous effect. In the past two weeks, a number of senators -- such as Senators John Cornyn, Kay Bailey-Hutchison, Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson, to just name a few -- who were supporting amnesty are now sitting on the fence or have come over to your side.

That progress wouldn't be possible if, in Senator Kyl's words, "the flood of angry calls and protests that greeted the deal two weeks ago has since receded..."
Truth be told, pro-amnesty forces in the Senate know full well that their coalition is unraveling.
And they would simply love for you to SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP... they would simply love for you -- and their colleagues -- to believe that your opposition to amnesty is wavering and they would love for you to give up the fight!
That's why you're seeing press reports claiming that opposition to amnesty is wavering. After all, if you read it in the papers... it must be true!

BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO LET THAT HAPPEN!

The Senate is back in session... debating this horrendous bill that will give IMMEDIATE LEGAL STATUS TO 12 TO 20 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS! And a final vote on the Amnesty bill could be had as early as this week!

We want to send at least another 100,000 Blast Faxes to our elected leaders in Washington DC in the hours leading up to this vote!

We want them to know that YOUR DETERMINATION TO STOP AMNESTY is NOT WAVERING! And that these press ploys ARE NOT WORKING!

We CAN stop this Amnesty bill from passing, but only if you act now -- ONLY IF WE KEEP THE PRESSURE ON OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS! Use the hyperlink below to send your urgent and personalized Blast Fax messages to President George W. Bush and the Republican Leaders of the United States Senate and the House of Representatives. Tell them you are appalled at the willingness of some of our leaders to defy the American people. Demand they use their power to stop Ted Kennedy, John McCain and the rest of the pro-Amnesty forces in the Senate from selling out this great country. Let them know that if this amnesty bill passes that millions of voters will NEVER forget or forgive those who voted for this horrendous amnesty bill. http://www.cfiflistmanager.org/amnestyxxxiiinm.html AOL Members Use This Hyperlink If the above hyperlink does not function, please copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser. What Do The American People Really Think About This Amnesty Bill?
Despite Senator Kyl's claim that opposition to the Senate Amnesty bill is receding, nothing could be further from the truth&

According to a recent Rasmussen poll, "Just 26% of Americans favor passage of [the Senate Amnesty] bill. Only 9% of Republicans believe the current legislation would actually reduce illegal immigration."
It's no wonder that Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC), a chief architect of the Senate "SCAMNESTY compromise" was booed off stage a couple of weeks ago by the crowd at South Carolina's Republican convention.
In fact, when Graham stated during his speech that he worked closely with Senator Ted Kennedy to craft the legislation, calling it "the best bill I think we can get to President Bush," the crowd of Republican activists drowned him out by shouting "NO!"

No wonder Senator Kyl chose to avoid his constituents during the recess last week.

And that's not all, state Republican Parties can't get their statements of opposition to the Amnesty legislation out quick enough!
Just about every poll shows that a majority of Americans do not want to give 12-20 million illegal aliens -- who violated our laws -- a path to citizenship.

And, conservative columnists also know the score and are savaging some of these elected leaders for their betrayal of the base.

Peggy Noonan, in a scalding column, wrote: "Now conservatives and Republicans are going to have to win back their party... This will be painful, but it's time. It's more than time."
Phyllis Schlafly, wrote: "The immigration reform bill recently announced in the U.S. Senate should be titled the Act to Destroy the Republican Party..."
Rush Limbaugh called this legislation " The Comprehensive Destroy the Republican Party Bill."

Even with all of this progress, it's the grassroots -- you, me and our fellow concerned Americans -- who are the only ones who can ultimately defeat Amnesty for 12-20 million illegals.

It's crunch time. The Senate could vote on this bill at the end of the week. We must turn up the heat! Give Us Amnesty And We'll Close The Borders... Really... We Will!
Democrats and turncoat Republicans tell us: "Give us amnesty and we'll close the borders."
Our reply: "We no longer believe you will even TRY to secure our borders after you've gotten your way on amnesty!"
Why do we no longer trust them? Because past performance IS an indicator of future returns!
We went down that road 20 years ago. James Jay Carafano writing for the Heritage Foundation notes the following:

"The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 legalized individuals who had resided unlawfully in the United States continuously for five years by granting temporary resident status adjustable to permanent residency. That law failed to curb the influx of illegal immigration. The lesson for Congress is that granting amnesty overwhelms subsequent efforts to enforce the law and create appropriate legal avenues for South-North migration... Like the Senate's current bill, the 1986 law granted immediate legal status to individuals unlawfully in the United States. Like the current proposal, the 1986 law included additional conditions such as a criminal background check, payment of application fees, and acquisition of English language skills. The core of the law was nevertheless an amnesty that excused the intentional violation of American laws. The impact of granting amnesty undermined the deterrent effect of subsequent efforts to enforce immigration law."

And yes, THIS BILL IS AN AMNESTY BILL. Pro-amnesty legislators have told the public that illegal aliens currently in the United States must apply for what is being called a "Z visa." And, as such is the case, this bill can not be an Amnesty bill because people who are illegally in the United States must follow certain steps BEFORE gaining a path to citizenship or permanent residency.
But what they are not telling you is that all illegal aliens currently living in the United States will receive "probationary" legal status.

Automatic and immediate legal status... THAT'S AMNESTY!

    Carfano again:

"The Senate's immigration proposal would immediately grant probationary legal status to individuals currently living unlawfully in the United States..."

But our government has broken promises to enforce immigration law on other occasions as well.
Michael Hedges, writing in the Houston Chronicle, told another part of the story:

"... after extensive bickering in Congress, the National Intelligence Reform Act included the requirement to add 10,000 border patrol agents in the five years beginning with 2006. Roughly 80 percent of the agents were to patrol the southern U.S. border from Texas to California, along which thousands of people cross into the United States illegally every year.
"But Bush's proposed 2006 budget, revealed Monday, funds only 210 new border agents."

WHY DIDN'T THE ADMINISTRATION ADD THE NUMBER OF AGENTS CONGRESS AUTHORIZED? Because the law gave them a loophole.
    Michael Hedges again:

"A summary, published by the Senate Government Affairs Committee, required the government to increase the number of border patrol agents by at least 2,000 per year, 'subject to available appropriations.'"

The Administration immediately pounced on these four words. Admiral James Loy, acting head of the Department of Homeland Security, said "funding only 210 new agents was a 'recognition that we need to balance those things as we go on down the road with other priorities.'"
"OTHER PRIORITIES!" We'll be hearing that phrase a lot if this bill passes.

    AND WHAT ARE THESE PRIORITIES?

Earmarks? Pork? Cheap labor? Business as usual? Use the hyperlink below to send your urgent and personalized Blast Fax messages to President George W. Give Us Amnesty And We'll Enforce The Law... Trust Us!
Here's another reason why we shouldn't believe closing the border will be a high priority after 12-20 million illegal aliens are granted amnesty: The Border Patrol has its hands tied to ensure that it can't do its job.
The union that represents some 11,000 Border Patrol agents recently gave its Chief, David Aguilar, a vote of no confidence for being a grinning, grunting lackey of pro-Amnesty Washington.
Among other things, union spokesmen have charged him with condoning:

    the imposition of restrictions on the ability of agents to pursue illegals -- for example, requiring them to get permission from headquarters before they can exceed the speed limit while chasing illegal aliens and drug dealers (Imagine telling that to your police department or highway patrol!);
    an obsessive reliance on maintaining established checkpoints, the easiest of all strategies to circumvent, given the miles and miles and miles of border;
forbidding agents to enter certain areas teeming with illegal aliens (e.g., Phoenix, Arizona) "because our presence might offend someone."

In a scathing letter to Senator Kyl, Edward Tuffly, III, President of Local 2544, catalogued the devastating effects of the 1986 amnesty bill, which included mega-corruption and a huge increase in illegal crossings. Then he added:

"Aside from this bill being bad public policy, astronomically expensive for the taxpayers, and bad for this country's security, I want to assure you that amnesty is a tremendous morale breaker for frontline Border Patrol agents who are trying to secure this nation's borders against all odds, and at an ever-increasing risk of personal harm. We would like any politician, just once, to explain to us why we risk our lives to keep people out of this country, when the same people we are trying to keep out will be legalized anyway after they get by us. And again, let's be clear, most of them do get by us. We are basically destined to fail before we ever get started." [Emphasis in original]

Most of all, Border Patrol Agents are bitter over the treatment of Agents Ramos and Compean, who were charged with serious crimes and sentenced to 11 and 12 years respectively for what Congressman Tom Tancredo -- and many others --described as simply "doing their job." These men appear to have been punished to warn other agents to back off and allow illegals to continue swarming into this county.
And it isn't just the Border Patrol.
The Inspector General of the Department of Agriculture issued a stinging rebuke of that agency for its failure to adequately patrol the 1,000 miles of border that run through national forest land. "Border security is an essential element of national security, especially in light of the terrorist attacks," the I.G. reported.

According to this study, a year and a half after 9/11, the Forestry Service had only 620 officers to monitor 196.1 million acres of national forest land. Consequently, national forests are, in the words of the I.G., "potentially vulnerable to infiltration by terrorists, smugglers, and other criminal agents."
You and I have one chance to cram all this highhanded deception down the throats of every slick politician involved: We have only a short window.

Let's make one last assault on Capitol Hill. Use the hyperlink below to send your urgent and personalized Blast Fax messages to President George W. And Who's Going To Pay For This Amnesty?
And what about the cost of this Let's-Abolish-America legislation?
According to Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation, the price tag of this amnesty bill could reach 2.5 TRILLION dollars... that's 2.5 followed by 11 zeros!
To put it another way... that's 5 times the cost of the Iraq war.
But moreover, according to Rector, each illegal alien household would generate a net cost to taxpayers of $19,588 per year. Rector is basing that figure on fiscal year 2004 statistics which show that low-skilled immigrant households received on average $30,160 in benefits and services and paid only $10,573 in taxes.
And those aren't the only costs. Just three more examples...

Section 622(m) of the bill provides free legal services to certain illegal aliens. It's not free... our tax dollars pay for it.
Another section of the bill repeals the un-enforced federal law that prohibits states from offering in-state tuition to illegal aliens. In other words, if you're from Georgia and want to go to college in Virginia, you pay a substantially higher tuition. but if you're in the country illegally, you pay the same rate as Georgia taxpayers, who built and have always supported the school.
Oh, yes, and the granting of Social Security benefits to millions will bankrupt the system. Funny how the liberals in Congress are suddenly quiet on that subject.

Its like the Emporers new clothing story (Oh, the calls have subsided, people like the bill, they want amnesty). Simply because he chose to ignore it, does mean it is the way he wants it to be.

I, for one, question John Kyl's sanity.
