A sheriff’s deputy responded to a report about 3 a.m. that a group of people were hiding near an apartment complex on Seacoast Drive, according to the U.S. Border Patrol. The deputy found six men and a woman in wet clothing and called Border Patrol.
Agents discovered an overturned 1978 Bayliner boat in the surf near Imperial Beach Boulevard shortly after. The boat was seized for evidence and the illegal immigrants detained by Border Patrol.

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Arrest 7 from Capsized Boat
(Thursday, May 13, 2010)
Imperial Beach, Calif. — Seven Mexican nationals who attempted to illegally enter the country early Thursday morning were later arrested after the boat they were using overturned off of the Imperial Beach, Calif., coastline and they were found hiding at a near-by apartment complex.
A San Diego Sheriff’s deputy responded to a 3 a.m. report of a group of individuals hiding near an apartment complex on Seacoast Drive. The deputy detained seven suspects wearing wet clothing until U.S. Border Patrol agents arrived to the scene.
The agents determined that the group, six men and one woman, were illegally smuggled into the country through the use of a boat. The group was transported to a local U.S. Border Patrol station for processing.
Shortly after the arrest, agents discovered an overturned 1978 Bayliner in the surf near Imperial Beach Boulevard. The abandoned vessel was seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine.

The reason the deputy had to call INS or Border Patrol is due to our national confusion about rule of law, and why Arizona had to pass a law to tell its law enforcement people to enforce the law. Reason is that the State of California tells its deputies not to arrest illegals -- the federal government claims exclusive jurisdiction in matters of illegals. Weird huh? So like if I was being murdered and it was witnessed by and FBI agent, that agent would have to phone the sheriff's office???
This country is messed up -- we need to go back to county controlled rule of law with the sheriff empowered to and responsible for enforcing ALL laws. And stop this ludicrous rule by a million police agencies where the left hand of government has no idea what its right hand is doing.Suppose you were an idiot and suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.
