Seven illegal entrants arrested north of I-19 checkpoint

A vehicle heading south on Interstate 19 near kilometer post 46 caused a crash Saturday when the driver attempted to cut across the lanes and into the median, Richard DeWitt, a spokesman for the Border Patrol's Tucson Sector said.
Another car also heading south clipped it, causing it to crash to a halt in the median.
A group of people jumped out of the car and ran into the desert west of the highway, DeWitt said.
The Border Patrol was called and agents, with the help of an agency dog and an helicopter, found seven of them, he said.
The driver and passengers in the other car were treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital, he said. The seven illegal entrants were processed for voluntary return to Mexico.
DeWitt said the vehicle had likely picked up the group and was going to cross the median and head north toward Tucson. The drive wanted to avoid the Border Patrol’s highway checkpoint located north of Tubac at kilometer post 42, he said.http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/printDS/206390
