Sheriff: Illegal Immigrants Are Costing Us Too Much

A trio of Butler County officials is getting ready to take action on the growing problem of illegal immigrants.

Officials, including Sheriff Rick Jones, say the problem is costing the county hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Jones says it's almost too much of a burden for taxpayers to bear.

"I've had close to 600 people in my jail with no social security numbers. Most of those people are here illegally. It's cost me close to $1 million in the past two years to house these people," Jones said at a Friday morning press conference.

The trio has proposed some possible actions, including charging illegal immigrants with trespassing simply for being in Ohio.

Another possibility is "loading the immigrants up on a bus" and dropping them off at the nearest Immigration and Naturalization Service office, Jones said.

I will bet right now that Sheriff Simon L. Leis, Jr.
will be next to fall in line with this.
