Six illegal immigrants arrested at Qualcomm

San Diego:

Six undocumented Mexican immigrants were arrested today by U.S. Border Patrol agents at Qualcomm Stadium, after a report that they were stealing food and water meant for evacuees, according to spokesman Damon Foreman.

San Diego police responded to a call about alleged theft from the evacuation center and encountered six people in a van who didn't speak English and didn't have California driver's licenses, Foreman said. The police officers called the Border Patrol, who arrived at the stadium and made the arrests, he said. Foreman said the immigrants admitted they were Mexican citizens and that they were stealing.

Border Patrol agents are not looking for illegal immigrants at the center but will continue responding to police calls for assistance.

"We are not in any means at Qualcomm for enforcement capacity," he said. "We are not there to take advantage of a situation."

Foreman said the agents have been helping in the evacuation and rescue effort in addition to carrying out their main duties.

"We are dedicated to our primary mission to securing our borders," he said.

Are stealing and looting jobs Americans won't do?
Been my experience we have plenty of folk who do that so I don't see the upside of importing more people with those skills.

My motherinlaw explained to me that when she was a kid they use to shoot looters! To bad! That made people think twice before looting back then!

I'll call this LOOTING during a disaster from people that need help.
Somehow I'm thinking that this isn't all that isolated and I bet it's being done at other relief sites.

Six illegal immigrants who were suspected of stealing relief supplies from Qualcomm Stadium were arrested by Border Patrol agents after San Diego police stopped them Wednesday morning.

A woman who had been evacuated to the stadium told officers she saw the group load up two pickup trucks and a car with cots and other supplies, leave and then return, said police Sgt. Jesse Cesen~a.

The Border Patrol agents are among 100 that the federal agency has been providing for relief efforts, said agency spokesman Matthew Johnson. He said the agents are not looking for illegal immigrants among people seeking refuge at the stadium.

"We're not out there doing immigration stuff in the middle of a disaster," he said. "However, we still enforce the laws."

The reporter makes it appear that these aliens were only stealing water and food. I've read in other articles that they stole three truckloads of stuff such as tents and cots and other supplies, not food and water. The "food and water" angle makes it appear they were just pooooor illegals looking for life saving sustenance, not the monetary profit the thieves were really after.

San Diego Police officials say they detained eight undocumented immigrants today after the suspects allegedly stole emergency supplies for evacuees at Qualcomm Stadium. KPBS reporter Amita Sharma has more.

Authorities say evacuees at Qualcomm Stadium told police they noticed a group of people loading supplies onto a truck and driving away. San Diego Police Spokeswoman Monica Munoz says witnesses saw the group return three times to pick up supplies.

Munoz: What they were doing was taking those supplies and selling them so what we did was detain those individuals and spoke to them and they told us they were undocumented and what exactly they were doing so we turned them over to the Border Patrol.

Munoz says four of the eight people taken into custody were released. She said she did not know where the group resold the items, nor to whom.

It appears that they only caught these people after 2-3 loads of carting away relief supplies to sell, not 'food and water.' Spin, spin, spin.

Absolutely sickening. U.S. immigration is making me go through hell to bring my PREGNANT WIFE here from Thailand after she was already denied a student visa once about a year ago, but these vile piece of s-hit border jumpers from mexico are allowed to remain in my country virtually consequence free despite breaking the law. seems the ones getting hurt the most in the immigration debate are the ones who play by the rules and do it legally!!

Now from what I have read these guys admitted to taking the items and not being a fire victims.
Yet here we have the Spanish language channel telling a different story!
