A Mexican woman living in Texas has been convicted of labor trafficking two women she brought illegally to the United States from Mexico and forcing them to work for her, without pay, for about 14 years.

According to the Justice Department, late Friday a federal jury convicted Olga Sandra Murra aka “Olga Sandra Capon-Meneses”— a 64 year-old woman who immigrated to the U.S from Mexico in 1997 — on two counts of forced labor and two counts of harboring an illegal alien.

Prosecutors explained how Murra illegally brought “V.R.” — a Mexican woman in her 30s — with her when she first moved to the U.S. and a year later, in 1998, arranged for another Mexican woman, “I.G.” to be illegally brought to the U.S. as well.

Murra kept the women from 1997 and 1998 to April 2011 — holding one or both of them and their identification documents — in El Paso and Fort Worth, where she used V.R. and I.G. as employees in her housecleaning business.

The Justice Department said that Murra forced the women to clean three to four houses a day. When they received pay for the work, Murra confiscated it. V.R. and I.G. were also required to clean Murra’s personal residence and prepare her meals.

In holding them, Murra sought to convince I.G. and V.R. that she was a voice of God, requiring the pair to listen to recordings of her reading and explaining the meaning different Bible verses as they worked.

“She caused both women to believe they would go to hell if they did not obey her,” the Justice Department explained in a press release. “Murra threatened at least one of the women that if she disobeyed her, she would contact immigration and the woman would be buried in a field with other illegal aliens. Murra also struck at least one of the women.”

While staying in Murra’s residence, I.G. and V.R. were not allowed to use the restroom without permission or to speak with other people living there. Their nutritional intake was also restricted and limited to bread and water. Additionally, I.G. and V.R. were made to sleep on the bedroom floor, unless they were being punished, in which case they would be forced to sleep in the garage, laundry room or backyard.

In a couple instances, Murray also forced I.G. to use false documents and work for McDonald’s (for a year in 2001) and Walmart (for six months in 2003). Murra would then confiscate all the checks I.G. received.

Each count of forced labor carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine and each count of harboring an illegal alien carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Murra has been remanded to federal custody and will face sentencing in late November. The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

This is one of the really good reasons why we must deport all illegal aliens from the United States and do so swiftly within 2 years and have a Moratorium on All Immigration for at least 10 to 20 years. We don't know who we're letting into the country, we don't know anything about them or what they're up to. So lets just stop it for awhile until we actually need some more poor people or criminals.

WE NEED A 10 to 20 YEAR MORATORIUM ON ALL IMMIGRATION!!

Slavery in the US was partially about money. The meat of the issue of slavery was one of human rights. It doesn't take a history degree to read about the Missouri Compromise to see the enactment of law to deny that certain humans were not, indeed, human. Human beings that are incarcerated, in modern times, are not paid in most cases but no one would deny that prisoners are, indeed, human.

The headline is a journalistic anathema, in my opinion.

FORT WORTH, Texas – A Texas woman was convicted of forcing two undocumented immigrants to be her slaves for 14 years.

Last week, a federal jury convicted Olga Murra, 64, of labor trafficking two women who she illegally brought into the U.S. from Mexico and forced them, with threat of serious harm and physical restraint, to work for her without pay, a news release from the U.S. Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement stated.

From September 1997 to April 29, 2011, Murra allegedly kept the women at her various residences in El Paso and Fort Worth and held their identification documents, officials say.

Murra, who operated a house-cleaning business, forced the two women to work for her business.

Both women cleaned three to four homes per day up to seven days per week, ICE said in a press release.

They were also forced to clean Murra’s home and prepare meals for her.

Neither woman was paid for the work.

Authorities say that Murra claimed to be the voice of God on earth and even made the women listen to religious recordings of herself reading the Bible while they were working.

Officials say Murra convinced both women that if they did not obey her, they would go to hell.

She also reportedly told one of the women that if she disobeyed, she would contact immigration and that the woman would be buried in a field with other illegal aliens.

Officials say that the women were required to ask for permission to use the bathroom and were made to sleep on the floor.

Murra was convicted on two felony counts of forced labor and two felony counts of harboring an illegal alien.

Each forced labor count carries a maximum statutory penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.

Her sentencing is set for Nov. 28.

So many bad things stem from years of ignoring the porous borders and from ignoring the enforcement of laws. It is terrible how these people were used. Our government is guilty of fostering bad behaviors by so many including governments of other nations, smugglers, coyotes, businesses, individuals, others.

Ilegal immigration and amnesty have no defense. To say you are helping the millions of illegal aliens hurts so many millions more of citizens who want no part of this and who have been victimized by illegal aliens and the people who support them.

A Texas woman was sentenced to six years in federal prison and a nearly $800,000 fine after she was convicted of harboring two illegal aliens, forcing them to work as maids without pay.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency announced that Olga Sandra Murra, 64, of Fort Worth, was sentenced and expected to pay $795,000 in restitution to her victims, both of which are illegal aliens.

Murra was convicted on two counts of forced labor and two counts of harboring illegal aliens after threatening her two victims with deportation and subsequently forcing them to work.

Murra, a Mexican immigrant herself, moved to Forth Worth in 1997, bringing one of her victims with her, along with other family members. The following year, Murra arranged for her other victim to be brought into the U.S. illegally.

Between September 1997 and April 2011, Murra kept either one of both victims at her residences in Fort Worth or in El Paso. During this time period, Murra forced both victims to work for her cleaning business, in which she forced them to hand all of their earnings over to her by threatening to call immigration officials on them. The victims would work up to seven days a week sometimes and cleaned nearly three to four homes a day. Murra also ordered the illegal aliens to cook food for her at her own residence.

At some point, Murra presented herself as a religious figure to the women, making them listen to voice recordings of her reading Bible verses and told them that if they did not obey her, they would go to hell. Murra allegedly hit one of the victims and threatened the other.

Murra restricted their bathroom use and food intake to bread and water. The victims would be punished by being forced to sleep in the backyard or garage.

Murra also forced one of her victims to work at McDonald’s and Wal-Mart, aside from working at her cleaning business, continuing to take all of the victims’ earnings.

The case was investigated by ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division and prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Allen-McCoy and Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Wirmani.

Wow. Nothing's changed much if 6 years is all you get for human bondage. Americans get 25 to life for kidnapping. Why didn't they charge her with kidnapping if slavery is such a minor offense these days??!!
