FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Susan Smith 401-991-5015
JANUARY 5, 2011 Founder, Nebraskans Advisory Group
    nagsusansmith@yahoo.com

Susan Smith of Nebraskans Advisory Group, a grass root organization who has opposed illegal immigration and supported the Rule of Law by enforcement of our current federal immigration laws has responded to recent press releases by Somas Republicans who are calling for Sen Chalie Janssen to apologize and resign his position as state senator of Nebraska's Legislative District 15.

Smith says, "All one needs to do is look through Somas Republicans website to see that they espouse conservative views on issues EXCEPT FOR ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION and that is where the worm turns. All of a sudden their support of so-called conservative values become blurred and the myth spin begins."

Smith believes Somas Republicans should be exposed for what they are....just another pro-illegal alien, anti-American organization who profits from illegal immigration by encouraging and supporting the bastardization of the United States laws.

Smith says, "It is groups like these who owe Americans an apology. An apology for supporting the devastating effect illegal immigration has on Americans via job loss, high taxes, increased threat to our national security, irreparable damage to our environment that is caused by the millions of illegal aliens who cross our borders, the financial cost and dangerous predicament stolen identity and medical identity theft causes for Americans, for the American lives taken by illegal aliens, for the cost of paying outrageous medical, educational, and criminal costs. and let's not forget the illegal alien women who flock to our country in order to have their children so that that American child will receive the benefits afforded to Americans through the mis-interpretation of the 14th Amendment. No where do they speak of the women and children sex slave ring issue being exacerbated by an unsecured border or the Drug Cartel's violence and billion dollar industry of drugs flowing across our border."

"No where on their site do they address these issues They would rather attemept to destroy American representatives like Sen Charlie Janssen who is doing his job by protecting and defending Nebraskans where the federal government has failed miserably. They would rather destroy the character and patriotism of Sen Janssen and others who oppose illegal immigration than deal fully and truthfully with all of the issues of illegal immigration that NEGATIVELY impact Americans and our country, " Smith said.

Instead of supporting Sen Janssen Somos Republicans Midwestern Director, Bob Quasius would rather call for representatives impeachment or resignation because they see the Rule of Law and ENFORCEMENT of our existing immigration laws as an oath of office violation. Sen. Janssen, by poposing illegal immigration legislation is bearing faith and allegiance to the Constitution and defending us from enemies, foreign and domestic and he is faithfully and impartially discharging the duties of his office.

Smith believes the true intention of pro-illegal alien organizations and politicians is frightenly made clear on www.nebraskansadvisorygroup.org website page "Racist?" where you will find a transcript of what pro-illegal alien people think of Americans quoting one of them as saying "you old white people it is your duty to die!" If 20 million Americans showed up in another country it would be considered an Act of War. But to pro-illegal alien advocates it is a way of pushing the Socialist Agenda and anyone who thinks differently from them are labeled racists, nativists, isolationists or anti-immigrant. A method used to distract Americans from learning about and discussing the real issues.

Smith goes on to say, " Nebraskans Advisory Group and many, many Nebraskans fully support Sen Charlie Janssen and will continue to do so in spite of the Socialists Agenda to destroy his character and fiduciary responsiblity to Nebraskans." Smith is encouraging citizens show their support to Sen Janssen by contacting him at 402-471-2625 or via email cjanssen@leg.ne.gov ; Governor Heineman dave.heineman@nebraska.gov 402-471-2244 ; Lt Governor Sheehy rick.sheehy@nebraska.gov 402-471-2256 ; Attorney General Bruning nedoj@nebraska.gov 402-471-2682 and YOUR Nebraska state legislator located at www.nebraskalegislature.gov

SOMAS REPUBLICANS PRESS RELEASE AGAINST JANSSEN:
Response to GOP State Senator Charlie Janssen and his continued Insult to Hispanics For Immediate Release 5 January 2011

Ankeny, Iowa – Republican State Senator Charlie Janssen continues to offend Hispanics for his continued use of the derogatory term – "anchor baby". Janssen used smoke and mirrors to avoid addressing the real issue. How can Janssen claim to be pro life when he denigrates babies? Babies should never be referred to as inanimate objects because we believe this is how the dehumanization process begins that so often have led to some of history’s greatest tragedies.

Illegal Alien women are not about to abort their meal ticket for the next 20 years. They will move to a state that is friendly or provides a safe haven for them.

Janssen finds it "ironic that…[SOMOS REPUBLICANS] refuse to criticize parents who will risk the lives of their unborn children in order to sneak across our border and give birth to their children." Janssen also believes that harsh immigration laws are necessary to protect taxpayers at the expense of shredding the Constitution of the United States. Does Janssen believe undocumented women should obtain abortions in order to protect taxpayers? Will he call for American citizen women to have abortions in order to "save money", too?

The term "anchor baby" is not only inflammatory, but it is equivalent to other defamatory terms such as "kike" and "wetback". The attack against American born babies is not only dehumanizing, but in a sense it repeats history. Hitler’s ‘Final Solution’ began with dehumanizing the Jewish, who were the object of Hitler’s hatred, that led to anti-Jewish laws, stripping citizenship, and ultimately deportation.

Give it a rest willya? Don't even talk abouit "dehumanization" in a country that aborts million of babies a year.

Where does he ever say that illegal alien women should abort their anchor babies moron? Illegal alien women can have as many anchors as they want as long as WE don't get stuck paying for them! You want babies? Make sure YOU can afford them on your own. If you can't then STFU and get out!

Perhaps some of you should send Sen Jansen Bob Quasius's past quotes and comments online? Bob Quasius has said and done a lot of crazy, outlandish, and disgusting things that would usually exclude a person from wanting to be mentioned in a press release.

Nebraska Compact Avoids Arizona-Style Immigration Law
    By Bob Quasius
    Published on December 7, 2010

We were a nation that was founded upon Christian values, where we prided ourselves on welcoming immigrants, the poor and down trodden who wanted nothing more but to make a better life for our families. Extreme Arizona SB1070-style legislation in Nebraska will indeed betray what made the United States of America a great nation; and it will contribute to more economic woes. In fact, the nature of the SB 1070 bill has already cost the State of Arizona a minimum of $140 million.

State Senator Charles Janssen has promised to introduce a bill identical to Arizona’s infamous SB1070 law. This law would mandate state and local police to detain undocumented immigrants based on ‘reasonable suspicion’, and it will in effect legalize racial profiling. In an attempt that will most certainly encroach upon the American Constitution, Senator Janssen, has promised to introduce a birthright citizenship bill that will deny citizenship to children of undocumented parents, even though the 14th Amendment is clear about birthright citizenship. The extremism that led to the creation of Arizona’s SB 1070 became detrimental to that economy, and it now holds a reputation as being anti-Hispanic and anti-immigrant. We believe that a Nebraska Compact could indeed reverse any hateful legislation that is aimed towards immigrants and U.S.-born American children, and it is our goal to save the state from future economic distress in light of the studies that point to Arizona’s disaster.

The Nebraska Compact is modeled after the Utah Compact. A group of leaders in Utah banded together to form a broad coalition known as the Utah Compact, which embraces a set of principles to guide the immigration discussion. These Utah leaders had foresight and wanted to avoid the measures taken by Arizona. Instead of waiting for the bills to be introduced, several religious groups chose to get ‘in front of’ the issue by embracing a set of principles that embodied Christian American and humanitarian values. Some key supporters of the Utah Compact are the Mormon Church, the Catholic Bishop of Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way, two former governors of Utah, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Bishop of the Episcopal Church. Thanks in no small measure to the Mormon Church supporting the Utah Compact and taking their first stand ever on immigration reform, the expected Utah bills are likely to be ‘dead on arrival’ within the Utah Legislature.

The legal arm of an organization known as the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is known for writing bills (Proposition 187 and SB 1070) that are unconstitutional, and we expect that both Nebraska bills will be copycats bills of this nature. We strongly believe a Nebraska Compact is vital in order to fight FAIR’s evil agenda. All similar bills that have been introduced in other states have resulted in expensive lawsuits, negative economic growth and a loss in taxes from the tax base due to mass exodus of Hispanic families. For example, in Fremont, FAIR wrote an ordinance almost identical to that of the legislation within Hazelton, PA. The result in both Fremont and Hazelton was followed by an increase of hatred towards Hispanics, hate crimes, and the poisonous atmosphere that eventually pushed undocumented immigrant families to leave. That said, the exodus also affected many legal immigrants and Hispanic citizens who owned and operated small businesses within the Hispanic community. Somos Republicans was among the early supporters of the Utah Compact (though not an original signatory), and we are driving a similar effort in Nebraska by reaching out to a broad group of community, civil, religious, and business leaders who do not want anti-immigrant extremism to hurt our state’s economy and reputation. We want to be recognized as a place that welcomes the hard working immigrant that will help grow our economy.

A grass-roots group of Latino Republicans who oppose Arizona-style immigration laws is establishing a foothold in Iowa and wants to influence the GOP's presidential selection process in the 2012 Iowa caucuses. Somos Republicans, which in Spanish means "We are Republicans," began two years ago in Arizona and claims 6,000 members in 10 states, primarily in the Southwest. The organization has appointed Bob Quasius Sr. of Ankeny, a Republican activist, as director of its fledgling Midwest organization. "Although we have a small group in Iowa, we are gaining in members and have solidified ourselves with the Hispanic media," said DeeDee Garcia Blase of Scottsdale, Ariz., the founder of Somos Republicans.

The group is already making it clear it won't support Sarah Palin for president because of her endorsement of illegal immigration hard-liner Tom Tancredo in his unsuccessful bid for Colorado governor. In addition, it has labeled as "unfriendly to Hispanics" Gov.-elect Terry Branstad and U.S. Rep. Steve King, both Iowa Republicans, because of their stances on immigration enforcement. The group also gave negative marks to U.S. Rep. Leonard Boswell, an Iowa Democrat, because of issues unrelated to immigration. Opponents say Arizona's immigration law, which is under court challenge, encourages racial profiling. A federal judge has blocked some requirements from taking effect, including provisions calling for police officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws and requiring immigrants to prove they are in the country legally or risk state charges.

Some conservative activists in Iowa who support the Arizona law want Iowa legislators to approve a similar statute. Branstad has expressed support for such a law if the federal government won't enforce existing laws. Quasius is a non-Hispanic whose wife, Aida, is from Honduras. He's an engineer who moved to Iowa this year from Nebraska. He has been active in Republican politics in five states, including Minnesota, where he was a county party treasurer and state GOP convention delegate. He has introduced himself to Iowa Republican officials, although party spokeswoman Danielle Plogmann said Somos Republicans is not an official Iowa Republican Party organization. Blase was an Arizona Republican activist who broke ranks with her state's party leaders in 2009 because of her disapproval of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a Republican known for his outspoken stance against illegal immigration.

Matt Roberts, a spokesman for the Arizona Republican Party, last week described Somos Republicans as a one-issue organization often quoted in the Arizona media, although he questions the strength of its membership. "We have tried to work with them in the past, and they have been unwilling to work with the Arizona Republican Party in promoting some Republican candidates. We have several Hispanic Republican groups in Arizona that we work with, and Somos is not one of them," Roberts said.

Quasius offered a different view, saying Somos Republicans aligns closely with traditional Republican values and conservative principles, but differs substantially from some Republican politicians by taking a more moderate approach to immigration. "We favor a complete overhaul of the immigration system," including approval of the so-called DREAM Act to provide a path to legal status for foreign-born young people illegally brought here, he said.

Somos Republicans wants to capitalize on Iowa's growing Latino population, which has quadrupled over the past two decades. Latinos are Iowa's largest minority group, representing 4.5 percent of the state's 3 million residents. The Census Bureau estimates Iowa's Latino population totaled 134,402 for the 12 months ending July 1, 2009. Blase said Somos Republicans is still formulating a presidential campaign strategy for the 2012 Iowa caucuses, but it is beginning to take shape. "Palin is out of the question. She absolutely does not have the Hispanic vote. I can assure you of that, and you cannot win the presidential election without the important Latino swing vote," Blase said.

Officials with Palin's political action committee didn't respond to a request for comment. The group has urged Texas Gov. Rick Perry to run for president because he opposes an Arizona-style immigration law in Texas. Iowa State University political scientist Steffen Schmidt, a native of Colombia, said the Republican Party is worried about declining Latino/Hispanic support. However, the key question for Somos Republicans is whether the specific people involved with the group are heavy hitters who can deliver support and caucusgoers in 2012, he said. If the group can't deliver those things, it will be ignored, he said. "They sound like moderate Republicans ... and there are not lots of moderates left in the GOP," said Schmidt, who chaired the Iowa Spanish Speaking People's Commission when Branstad was previously governor.

Schmidt said that if he were advising Somos Republicans, he would suggest they form a coalition with existing Iowa Latino groups, such as the League of United Latin American Citizens or La Raza. Another approach would be to find allies within the Iowa Republican Party, such as business and agricultural leaders concerned that harsh immigration laws will reduce the state's labor force, he said. Drake University political scientist Dennis Goldford said Somos Republicans faces a big hurdle in overcoming Republicans suspicious about any kind of immigration, let alone illegal immigration. But if the Iowa caucuses are closely contested and Somos Republicans can mobilize Hispanics to show up on caucus night, the group could make a difference, he said.

Although Iowa's Hispanic population has increased dramatically, replacing blacks as Iowa's largest minority, the question is whether Hispanics will participate in the caucuses, Goldford said. Studies show that non-Hispanic whites and blacks are more likely to vote than Hispanics. Somos Republicans is unhappy with Iowa politicians King, Branstad and Boswell, listing all three on its "Hispanic unfriendly" list for the 2010 elections.

Quasius said King has extreme positions on immigration and uses offensive rhetoric, such as describing Hispanic children born in the United States as "anchor babies" for undocumented parents. King, through a spokesman, declined to comment. The criticism of Branstad stems from his disagreement with a U.S. Supreme Court decision from the 1980s that forced states to enroll children in school even if their parents are in the country illegally.

Branstad spokesman Tim Albrecht said the governor-elect still disagrees with the decision, but will abide by it. He also said Branstad welcomes all legal immigrants, and wants them to enjoy the same rights and opportunities that make Iowa a great place to work and raise a family. The Somos Republicans' criticism of Boswell came in October, when the group endorsed state Sen. Brad Zaun, a Republican who challenged the seven-term Democratic congressman. The group praised Zaun for supporting changes in the immigration system, while blasting Boswell as a "liberal elite masquerading as a conservative."

Boswell aides were puzzled by the criticism, pointing out that Boswell opposes the Arizona immigration law and opposes changing the 14th Amendment, which gives citizenship to children born here. Grant Woodard, who was Boswell's campaign manager, believes the group's criticism of Boswell stems from a partisan agenda. "Congressman Boswell is focused on finding a bipartisan solution to comprehensive immigration reform," he said.
