    The United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce (USMCOC) is pleased to announce that the annual May Conference and "Good Neighbor" black tie Awards Gala will be held on May 17-18, 2007 in Washington, D.C. This year's Conference is titled "U.S.-Mexico 2007: The Year for Cooperation" and promises to continue the Chamber's reputation for providing industry executives with excellent opportunities to meet with government and corporate officials whose decisions have a significant impact on U.S.-Mexico business developments.

    Below please find a detailed agenda. This year's conference is specifically designed for private and public sector executives and managers to discuss the issues directly impacting their business growth. The Conference begins on Thursday, May 17th with an overview of the U.S. and Mexico's Energy Industry followed by a detailed discussion of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP/ASPAN). Next, the Governor's luncheon will provide business opportunities for the State of Nuevo León. Immediately following the luncheon there will be a special White House briefing. That evening will be highlighted by our "Good Neighbor Awards" black tie gala and awards ceremony at the
    Organization of American States.

    The Gala will continue the Chamber's long standing tradition of honoring individuals in the private and public sectors that have made outstanding contributions to U.S.-Mexico relations. The Honorees for the
    2007 Awards are: Secretary of Labor of the United States, Elaine L. Chao; Mexico's Secretary of the Economy, Eduardo Sojo; Governor of the State of Nuevo León, Natividad González Parás; Amb. Jesús Reyes Heroles, General Director PEMEX and Former Mexican Ambassador to the U.S.;
    Chairman & CEO of Tyson Foods, John Tyson; and Chairman of Empresas ICA, Bernardo Quintana. Finally, Governor of the State of New Mexico, Bill Richardson, will be honored as the fourth recipient of the "José Juan de Olloqui" Award for Hemisphere Leadership. The conference culminates with the USMCOC's Board of Directors Meeting on Friday, May 18th.

    All conference presentations and roundtable sessions will be held at the Westin Grand Hotel located at 2350 M Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. For your convenience, lodging has been reserved at the Westin Grand with a deadline for reservations of April 20th. Make your reservations now! It is our sincerest hope that you will consider participating in both the "U.S.-Mexico 2007: The Year for Cooperation" Conference and the Good Neighbor Awards Gala. Sincerely yours,
    Al Zapanta
    President & CEO
    U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce

    Someone needs to inform Mr. Zapanta that the SPP supposedly feels the NAFTA Superhighway is unconstitutional. Mr. Zapanta is a member of the NASCO Board of Directors. In fact, the SPP denies the US government is even planning a NAFTA Superhighway. Maybe he didn't get the memo.
