Not sure exactly what you mean, but ya, some people want perfect or nothing at all.

I say great on this legislation and it still puts out a message "don't come to our state for a job if you're illegal." If we can get the SAVE Act by Schuler passed it will take care of the other ones eventually.

Roan was the one that got the ball rolling. That man amazes me, for the last few months he has been in the Statehouse almost every day. He knew more about the bills that any of our state politicans. There are a lot of people in South Carolina that had an impact on this legislation and one of the main ones is the South Carolina Minuteman CDC. Just suffice it to say that a lot of our patriots stepped forward and got the job done. Without them our politicians would have passed a watered down version or put it off until after the election. I think that was the main impetus for them to vote the way they did. Some of them like Senator Jim Ritchie is currently trailing his Republican opponent because of his backsliding. Our primary is on June 10th and they are really worried for some reason, lol.

There are a few things though, about this bill. And number one is how in the hell can we expect them to enforce a new law when they haven't paid any attention to the ones that have been on the books since the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli Act? We will have to hold their feet to the fire. Another is that this only applies to new employees.
One way that illegal aliens will get over here is that they are paid in cash, off the books so there will be no way to track which companies employ them. There is one good point right now though, we will have our own state illegal alien hotline. I do not know all the ins and outs of this bill but it is a start and these politicians are actually very worried about their chances for re-election because of the anger the citizens of this state.

There are also a lot of people and organizations from all over this country that assisted and the People of South Carolina thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.

Wow loneprotester from the courts to the hall of the legislature. I'm impressed. I agree with you "but it is a start and these politicians are actually very worried about their chances for re-election because of the ANGER OF THE CITIZENS of this state. They kind of get it. DC doesn't.

Immigration Reform Bill passage draws overall positive reviews

By Greg Oliver (Contact / Staff Bio)
    May 31, 2008 - 12:04 a.m. EST

PICKENS — Clemson City Council member Margaret Thompson, the most outspoken of local individuals urging tougher illegal immigration laws, perhaps best summed up how she and others felt about the state legislature’s passage Thursday of an immigration reform bill.

    Immigration bill impact being felt

By Sarita Chourey| Morris News Service

COLUMBIA — At one Mexican restaurant in Bluffton, families used to come in four times a week, spending sometimes $100 on a meal. Today, those families might come once a week and order just a bite.

“Now it’s two or three tacos and they leave,â€

    I love this part:

The bill also makes harboring or transporting illegal residents a felony, requires jails to attempt to determine if prisoners are illegal residents and allows former employees to sue their former employer if the company fired the worker to replace him with an illegal worker.

In addition, the bill also prohibits illegal residents from attending public colleges or receiving scholarships as well as bans public contracts from firms that hire illegals.

She said the Hispanic community is worried, and businesses such as hers are already feeling the effects of fewer customers
There are two points to be derived from this statement:
    1. If you are here illegally, of any race-creed-or nationality, you should be worried.
    2. Businesses that depend on illegal aliens will inevitably have their economics disrupted when immigration enforcement occurs. If your business model is based on illegal aliens...to damn bad.

Exactly zeezil. Don't you wonder why the HISPANIC community is ALWAYS in these articles are worried. That tells us that the hispanic community is the worst offenders.

We don't single out a nationality, THEY DO.
