State lawmaker wants Arizona to run a foreign worker program

PHOENIX -- Unwilling to wait for a federal fix, some Southern Arizona lawmakers want the state to run its temporary foreign worker program.
The proposal crafted by Sen. Marsha Arzberger, D-Willcox, would let companies which are suffering a "labor shortage'' to seek permission from the state Industrial Commission to bring in their own workers from Mexico. It even would have the state provide identification cards to the foreigners given permission to work here.
"The federal government has not met the responsibility to come up with comprehensive immigration reform,'' she said.
"Our economy is hurting,'' Arzberger continued. And she said many firms have found themselves without the workers they need.
SB 1482 has drawn a number of cosponsors, including many of the legislators who represent the border area. And even Senate President Tim Bee, who did not sign on as a sponsor, said he supports the concept of a legal guest worker program.

How are the going operate IF amnesty was granted to all here? Would they have to have illegal aliens again to do the work that the last 20 million would not do? IF amnesty was given to 20 million how much is the cost going to go up?

Sorry....I'm sure once the dust settles there might be citizens migrating to Arizona for work if they knew it was safe. Hired too many illegals....too bad.....now wait for citizens to respond.

Not to mention many of these employers who depended on illegals weren't decent employers to begin with. Maybe they need to go out of business.

Like this would ever work...Ha do we look stupid....Look out AZ RESIDENCE they would just be bringing in labors legally when they do not want to pay the going wage, it is happening already with the H1B program....DO NOT TRUST THEM!!! THEY LIE!! they will say they can not find workers and not even advertise for them.... THIS IS DANGEROUS TERRITORY!! NOOOOO WAAAAY!! DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!!!!
Besides it is dangerous territory for states to be allowed to give work visa...every state do this and it will be so out of control, we think we don't know how many people they are letting in now imagine
Besides that the federal governments job...Please support ALIPAC's fight to save American Jobs & Lives from illegal immigration by joining our free Activists E-Mail Alerts (CLICK HERE)
