Steve King Is Wise To Pelosi Scheme To Seize House Floor, Fund Illegal Amnesty – Now Boehner Knows Too

Posted on March 3, 2015 by Rick Wells

here has been a lot of speculation surrounding a letter Nancy Pelosi sent out to her Marxist foot soldiers within the House last week regarding the future of illegal amnesty and the DHS funding they are using as a weapon against the American people.
Pelosi, rallying her comrades to support a one week extension of DHS funding, wrote “Your vote tonight will assure that we will vote for full funding next week.” The speculation has been that a deal was made with Speaker Boehner and that the fix was in; that he had made a deal with the devil, or in this case a witch, and the American people were once again being victimized by their oppressive “public servants.”
Perhaps Boehner is reaching across the aisle, asking for a lifeline from Democrats to help him navigate a less than obvious capitulation to their demands. He has an avenue through which he could at least appear to have been duped, lured into a Democrat procedural trap that he “forgot about.” It’s one which could effectively leave him and the American people powerless, outside of rising up in another American Revolution, to defend themselves and their nation from a foreign invasion orchestrated by domestic traitors.
Roll Call reported, “Clause four of House Rule XXII provides: “When the stage of disagreement has been reached on a bill or resolution with House or Senate amendments, a motion to dispose of any amendment shall be privileged.”
They also noted that “The Congressional Research Service explains, ‘A chamber enters the stage of disagreement by formally agreeing to a motion or a unanimous consent request that it disagrees to the position of the other chamber, or that it insists on its own position.’
Roll Call elaborated, saying, “In other words, any House lawmaker, arguing that a conference scenario is moot and won’t be resolved before the clock runs out on the current extension of DHS funding, could take to the floor and move that the House recedes from its previous position and concurs in the Senate amendment.”
They added, “Because such a motion is “privileged” that would then trigger a vote on sending the Senate-amended full year Homeland Security appropriations bill to Obama’s desk without any of those riders designed to block his executive actions on immigration.”

So any Democrat could take to the House floor, declare the debate to be moot, and demand that the Senate bill be taken up free of all amendments.
Were such an event to take place, a majority vote of the House would still be required for passage, which would necessitate dozens of Republican defections and at a minimum the implicit approval of Speaker Boehner. Pro-amnesty RINO’s aren’t hard to find and Boehner would have a weak but potentially effective argument for protecting his public image. He’d be employing the prototypical Obama defense of “I never saw that one coming,” as a shield for complicity.
All is not lost; a simple solution does exist. Breitbart.com reports that there is a preemptive maneuver under way by the American statesman, Rep Steve King (R-IA) which would dispense with the prospect of this anticipated implementation of Congressional trickery.
King sent an email to 160 of his fellow Congressmen on Monday, referencing the Roll Call article and asking for their help. King said, “If we let Nancy Pelosi execute a privileged motion that would force a vote on the Senate version of DHS apropos, it would pass and Obama’s lawless amnesty would be funded until Sept 30th.” He also pointed out that, “There is a way to block that motion.”
King wrote, “House Democrats are poised to take control of the floor and fund executive amnesty. A House Resolution can stop it, if we amend Rule XXII.” He urged a simple majority rule change, saying it “is our urgent obligation to immediately amend or suspend Clause 4 of Rule XXII.”
Representative King has also drafted a bill to execute such an action, preventing Pelosi and company’s trickery and ensuring that “any motion pursuant to clause 4 of rule XXII relating to the [DHS appropriations bill] may be offered only by the Majority Leader or his designee.”

King also noted in his letter a similar action which was undertaken by the house during the shutdown showdown of 2013. By including that language in the letter, King has probably blows the feigned ignorance or “I forgot about that” defense out of the water for the Speaker.
If Boehner is truly on the side of the American people, he’ll take Rep King’s advice and move preemptively to disable the Democrat tactic. If he’s not, he’ll have clearly demonstrated where his loyalties truly lie, for all of America to see.
Boehner’s already on thin ice with the American people. That fact should be the one thing he doesn’t allow himself to forget.
