Stop and dough: Traffic contact nets $30K in cash

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper stopped a Chevrolet Avalanche for speeding Tuesday and arrested the driver after a search of the vehicle turned up $31,365 in cash.

Leopoldo Ocon, 32, of Lufkin, remained in the Henderson County Jail Thursday with bond set at $25,000 on a charge of money laundering between $20,000 and $50,000, a third-degree felony. According to the Texas Penal Code, money laundering occurs if anyone “conceals, possesses, transfers, or transports the proceeds of criminal activity.â€
