When someone is slammed in prison awaiting deportation, that means that they have been found guilty as charged. And what were these horrible conditions underlying a hunger strike? Perhaps not getting the cable channel they wanted?

Hopefully this is nothing more than illegal aliens starving themselves again for media attention. Detention centers know that eyes are watching.

They should beg to go home, with their families, inside of being here illegally and complaining. Before they go, they need to be photographed, fingerprinted, etc.

    Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

I dont know why these people are being detained at all. They are not here legally so they should be immediately deported. If they want to appeal their deportation, then let them fight the case from their country of origin. I think the whole case should be able to be done via paper so they dont have to physically appear. They can pay for their own lawyer. If they cant prove they are here legally ...deport them. Except in some rare instances where they have lost their passport or something like that.

The reason they don't want it to close is because the detention center is conveniently located in the heart of NYC, and they have easy access to counsel. If it closes they will be transferred to remote jails in other states making it more difficult for their lawyer to visit them and fight their cases. That is what the activists and Sen. Chuck Schumer are screaming about.

Too bad for them. Criminals don't get a choice of jails. They are here illegally, why should they need legal counsel? Shut it down, process them and DEPORT them!
