Tanger Outlet Thief Sentenced & Handed Over For Deportation
    August 28, 2008

8/29/08 - After many hurdles, one of the suspects in the alleged theft of thousands of dollars of clothing from the Tanger Outlet Center was sentenced yesterday. The 28 year old was sentenced in Livingston County Circuit Court Judge’s Stanley Latreille’s courtroom under the alias Rodrigo Quide. He pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree retail fraud last month after a major mix up in which authorities thought he was picked up by immigration officials when he was really lodged in the Livingston County Jail all along under a fake name. Just when they thought the name was correct through fingerprints, he then testified in court last month that his real name is actually Eled N. Anyosa Madonado. The man has several aliases and initially told authorities his name was Rodrigo Quinde. He was set to be sentenced earlier this month but his Spanish interpreter didn’t show up in court. Yesterday he did and Judge Latreille sentenced him to 134 days in jail with credit for the same amount served. Federal officials had a hold on him so he was immediately released into their custody to be deported. (LS)

Court Docket: Flint man gets jail, deportation for theft from area outlet mall
    August 29, 2008

A Flint man was sentenced Thursday in Livingston County Circuit Court to time served in the county jail and ordered to be deported.

Eled Amyosa Maldonado — who initially told police his name was Rodrigo Quinde and then Eliel Ramirez — earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree retail fraud in exchange for prosecutors dismissing a third count of the same charge.

Judge Stanley J. Latreille sentenced Maldonado to 134 days in the county jail, with credit for 134 days served.

Maldonado, 28, is now expected to be turned over to federal immigration officers for deportation.

Maldonado was arrested in April for his alleged involvement in the theft of thousands of dollars worth of clothing from the Tanger Outlet Center at Kensington Valley in Howell Township.

At the time, Maldonado told authorities his name was Quinde, which is really his brother's name, and prosecutor's charged the person they knew as Quinde with three counts of first-degree retail fraud.

On June 2, Latreille authorized a bench warrant for the man known as Quinde after he failed to appear in court for a pretrial hearing. It was announced in court at that time that authorities believed Quinde had been picked up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforce agents.

However, in late June, authorities learned Quinde's identity after a fingerprint analysis. He had been sitting in jail the whole time.
