Texas lawmakers react to Obama's renewed push for immigration overhaul

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama's renewed interest in overhauling immigration drew sharply different reactions from a Republican and a Democrat from Texas who are heavily involved in the issue.
Republican Sen. John Cornyn, who has been a high-profile participant in the debate since being elected in 2002, took issue with Obama's timing.
"President Obama promised the American people that he would make immigration reform a priority during his first year in office," said Cornyn. "Eighteen months into his presidency, he continues to deliver words but no action."
The Texas senator accused Democrats of making "a strategic decision to put immigration on the back burner, and they now claim they can't even propose immigration legislation without a Republican."
Cornyn chided Obama for having campaigned against "petty partisanship" that held up comprehensive immigration reform. "I wish President Obama would take candidate Obama's advice," he said.
Rep. Charlie Gonzalez, D-San Antonio, who has been active in Democratic deliberations and attended a White House meeting the Congressional Hispanic Caucus had with Obama on Tuesday, said: "President Obama made a profound case to move forward on immigration reform, with an emphasis on the importance of a comprehensive solution. Piecemeal legislation will not help solve the root of this issue."
He added, "As it may be easier to settle for individual pieces of legislation, we must focus on the larger issue at hand: Our entire system is broken."

OUR IMMIGRATION SYSTEM IS NOT BROKEN. THE ONLY THING THAT IS BROKEN IS THE FACT THAT THOSE WHO WE ELECT AND SEND TO WASHINGTON ARE NOT INTERESTED IN DOING THE RIGHT THING, AND THAT IS TO SECURE OUR BORDER AND DEPORT THOSE ILLEGALS WHO ARE ALREADY IN THE COUNTRY.

Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce, author of SB 1070, appeared on FOX's "On the Record" this evening to express his obvious contempt for Obama's speech. Pearce said that our immigration laws are fine, but that "we have broken politicians." He also commented that President Obama's "nose must be quite a bit longer" after his speech, because it contained "fabrication after fabrication".Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

HR4437, an enforcement bill passed the House and immigration legislation has been stalled ever since because the Senate has continued to try to add AMNESTY pieces to the enforcement measures.

I like that wisdom, mind if I use it?
It's not our immigration system that's broken it's our politicians that are broken.
Vote em out!

That's why I posted it - because he summed it all up so perfectly. Below is the link to the video of Pearce's full interview "On The Record":
