Texas officers under fire from Mexico, return fire
Chase Ends Near Anzalduas Bridge, Officers Fired Upon From Across River
Reported by: Camaron Abundes
Last Update: 11:18 pm
MISSION-Mission police say things are becoming more dangerous for officers trying to stop smugglers. A chase that ended on the banks of the Rio Grande River also ended with gunfire coming from across the river. Several bundles of marijuana were thrown from the alleged smugglers truck as they tried to get away. Police say it just one of several new decoy tactics smugglers are using the thwart pursuing officers. "Obviously the marijuana that they were chunking out of the vehicle was an attempt to have the vehicles slam into the large bundles of marijuana. Which they were unsuccessful in doing so." said Chief Leo Longoria. During the chase, another vehicle, driven by a 19-year-old, was trying to protect the smugglers with the drugs; the car was trying to ram police involved in the chase. But efforts to protect the load of marijuana didn't end there. Once the smugglers reached the banks of the Rio Grande River, officers found themselves under fire, from Mexico. "At that moment, gunshots were being fired from the Mexican side and gunshots were returned." said Chief Longoria, "Nobody was hit everybody is fine. We don't believe anyone was hit on the Mexican side, either." Two of the alleged smugglers are still on the run. The details of other arrests made during the chase were not available.

MISSION — Drug smugglers opened fire on U.S. law enforcement officers Sunday morning near the Anzalduas International Bridge after Mission police intercepted a 500-pound load of marijuana, police Chief Leo Longoria said.
U.S. law enforcement officers shot back, Longoria said, and no injuries were reported. Details remained hazy Sunday afternoon, and Longoria couldn’t give further information about the brief shootout.
Less than two weeks ago, U.S. law enforcement officers came under fire near Abram and shot back, injuring three smugglers. On June 9, after Texas Rangers, Border Patrol agents and state game wardens were fired upon, they returned more than 300 rounds. The suspects escaped into Mexico on inflatable rafts.
Sunday’s incident began at 9:55 a.m. when a Mission police cruiser attempted to stop a red Chevrolet pickup on Military Road. Instead of pulling over, the pickup fled and a passenger began throwing bundles of marijuana at the police cruiser.
Six police units, several more from the Department of Public Safety and a Border Patrol helicopter were called to assist. As the pickup fled, a green Chevrolet Avalanche with a young woman behind the wheel began harassing officers, Longoria said.

Our military needs to be put on the border now! Build a US version of the Great Wall of China using illegal alien labor.
Talk about the war on terror! War being the operative word here...As Aristotle said, “Tolerance and apathy are the first virtue of a dying civilization.â€

In the past, gunfire coming from across the border may have been considered an act of war! Oh, but, aw shucks, the gunfire was only from drug smugglers. No big deal.

MISSION - Federal and local authorities conducted several raids in the Mission area Sunday. One led to a nightclub near Benson Palm and Mile 5 1/2. Authorities are being tight-lipped about what they found at the location.
Mission police, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, and Hidalgo County sheriff's deputies are investigating. Sources close to CHANNEL 5 NEWS say the raids may have been a direct result of an early morning chase that turned into a shootout near the Anzalduas Bridge.

BROWNSVILLE — Gunmen from across the Rio Grande fired at U.S. law enforcement, instigating the second cross-border gunfire exchange this month, Rio Grande Valley news outlets said Monday.
No injuries were reported from the brief gun battle, which broke out Sunday morning after police chased a truck loaded with marijuana. The smugglers threw bundles of drugs at them, then drove into the Rio Grande and splashed back to Mexico. Police fired back in response to shots from the other side.Mission Police Chief Leo Longoria told The Monitor in McAllen a woman who drove a second vehicle toward police during the pursuit could be charged with evading arrest and assaulting a police officer.
The incident followed a June 9 gun battle across the river in Hidalgo Countyin which U.S. officers fired some 300 rounds.

So much for DHS Insecurity Chief Clownitano's supposedly secure border. But that no longer matters since the drug cartel owned corrupt pos ICE chief Morton told Border Patrol to stop arresting illegal aliens. They now can commit a misdemeanor by sneaking into the country and break more laws with impunity. Laws apply only to citizens and legal residents. The back door illegal alien amnesty and open borders agenda under puppet master Soros and his Obama puppet is in full force. They, Luis "La Raza - the race" Gutierrez and other rabid open borders proponents and American gringo haters care only about illegal alien welfare cheats, identity thieves, child molesters and illegal alien votes, NOT unemployed Americans and the country which is about to be flushed down the toilet which they have said be damned.....
There is no freedom without the law. Remember our veterans whose sacrifices allow us to live in freedom.
