TN bill eases voters' proof of citizenship

TN bill eases voters' proof of citizenship

    TENNESSEE

A proposal to require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in Tennessee has been changed to instead require prospective voters to check a box to affirm they are citizens.

The bill sponsored by Republican Rep. Eric Watson of Cleveland originally would have required people to present evidence of their U.S. citizenship along with a photo ID, their occupation and their parents' names.
But under changes adopted in the House elections subcommittee on Tuesday, applicants would only be required to check a box to say they are legally in the United States.
The bill would also set penalties of up to two years in prison and $5,000 for providing false information on the application.
The measure was advanced to the House State and Local Government Committee

Oh great! Check a box just like every other voter registration form.

What a crock of BS! Illegals are going to pile all over that. Nobody is going to check in TN so the illegals will be registering and will be voting.

What a joke! Presenting a fradulent/stolen social security card is also a felony but that has not stopped the invading hordes from stealing our jobs with these documents! Does anyone believe an illegal invader would think twice about checking a box in the privacy of their own home, allowing them to taint an election with their fradulent vote- especially if there is a pro-amnesty/invader candidate on the ticket!

We're slowly losing our country and it's decisions like these which are paving the way for total anarchy in this country!

A Tennessee bill requiring voter applicants to prove their citizenship status was scheduled to be heard today in the House State & Local Government Committee.

The bill, HB 270 is sponsored by Representative Eric Watson, who “wants to find a way for the state election officials to match registered voters’ names against citizenship proof – like Social Security numbers,â€
