    TN. Gov. Talks Tough on Illegals

    He said Thursday that the state should play an “interim” role in addressing illegal immigration after seeing that Congress was not going to pass a comprehensive immigration bill this year.

    “Now, we’ve stepped up and said, ‘OK, this is a serious enough issue and everyone’s become aware of it. What are the various things we could do?’” Bredesen said.

    After securing the border, Bredesen’s steps include the following:

    • Punishing employers who knowingly hire illegals;

    • “Filling the enforcement gap” left by the federal government through better communication and coordination between all levels of law enforcement;

    • “Combing through” the state’s social services to make sure state taxpayers aren’t subsidizing illegal immigrants.
    The Prez asked TN for 100 Guards, Bredesen sent 500! He has been catching hell from his opponent about immigration and I hope this just isn't grandstanding.

    State and local law enforcement should be running the country! They at least know right from wrong! They are willing to do what the federal government won't do!

    I agree, CC. Somebody who actually knows what's going on should step up to the plate. Those boneheads in DC don't seem to have a clue.
