TN- Mother sentenced in baby's death in Nashville

Mother sentenced in baby's death in Nashville
    November 14, 2009

A mother charged with homicide in the 2007 death of her 4-month-old son pleaded guilty Friday to attempted aggravated child neglect.

Police said that Astrid Carias left her infant son Adolpho unattended on a mattress, and when she returned, the baby was wedged between the mattress and a crib. The baby died the next day.

Carias was sentenced to eight years with one year to serve in prison. After the prison term, Carias, an illegal immigrant, will be turned over to the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for likely deportation.

    God Bless the poor babiy.

I really hate stories about babies and/or innocent children being hurt and/or killed. So sad.

I was born on a Friday, but it was not last Friday...

There has to be more to this story.
This could have happened overnight, instead of during the day nap.
Would this be a case of the crib manufacturer having a very bad design?
Did the mother somehow modify the crib and mattress to cause the danger?

Illegal or not, we are not awake with our children during the night, when we are all sleeping.

I don't like the illegals being here, and it is unfortunate a child died, but there has to be more to it for her to get 8 years for child negligence.
Travis and Crockett, are flopping in their graves
