Well I will not do anything such as this.

As it stands, if you simply let them know that you won't take it, they won't try it. The rule in our complex used to be that if there was something on our front porch, we could bet that the neighbors would try to walk off with it.

So...we fought back. One kid tried taking our son's scooter several years ago, we went looking for it and saw it on their back patio and confrnted them about it. They handed it back. Then there was some others incidents, as well as some calls to police about some threats made against out kids. Then one neighbor got caught swiping our redeemable cans, we talked with the landlord about that.

So, long story as short as possible, they don't mess with us anymore, know why? Because they KNOW we will not tolerate their thieving ways around here. In fact we put out a nice couch set in front to get rid of, put up notices in the laundry rooms, and still they would not set foot on our front porch. So we had to make HUGE signs and attach them to the couches, and when we were gone one day, came home to find they had been "absconded" while we were out.
