Sippy, again DING,DING,DING. you win the prize for basic economics that was taught in the 9th grade.
This is a form of simple mathematics and they dimwits in WA don't get it or better yet I should say they think we are too dumb to figure it out ! Our trade defecits with China, and Mexico (to mention a few) are so upside down that I don't know if we can ever make enough gains to ever pay it off. At this rate our great,great,great grandchildren will be footing this bill. Before Nafta, we had trade surpluses and now this country is so in debt it is pathetic.
Anyway if anyone wants to read this article it offers some good insight!

The whole China debacle keeps up at night. All they have to do is cash in their dollars (or their 'piece' of our national debt) and we would have a serious economic collapse, perhaps greater than the depression. I know through the use of both fiscal and monetary policy, we may never see a dpression again, but we've also never been faced with this type of economic collapse from a foriegn government.
I can't understand how any national leader would allow another country the ability to cripple us at any given time.

The answer to your question is also simple...THEY HAVE SOLD THEIR SOULS! The whole lot of them, both the Demoncrats, and the Republicrats have sold America out in the name of Greed. What's unfortunate is that they (being the Congress, Senate, White House) no longer run this country. It has been bought and paid for by Corporations, both Foreign and Domestic, and they literally are calling all the shots! So Sad to See America at this point it scares me to think of the future of our kids.
With that said, we cannot and must not give up the fight. Thank God, we still have a few good Congressmen and Senators who are willing to fight for us and hopefully in 2008 we can elect Hunter, Ron Paul or Tancredo to get this country back!

I liken Tony Snow to Colin Powell. They both appear to be good decent men with scruples who got caught up in an administration that operates without honor or ethics.
