A man was on an immigration hold Friday after being arrested during a routine traffic stop.

Gregorio Gonzalez-Gonzalez, 23, was arrested 8:56 p.m. Thursday at Silverton and Brown Roads NE on a charge of heroin possession and failure to carry and present a driver's license, said Don Thomson, Marion County sheriff's spokesman.

As of Friday, Gonzalez-Gonzalez was on an immigration hold at Marion County jail because he is foreign born (born in Mexico) and lacks the proper immigration documentation.

Jail officials said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are on their way to take him into custody.
