The recent housing price report by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight that home prices increased significantly between December and January may portend that the market will return to normal on its own. Just in case it cannot, Richard S. Lefrak and A. Gary Shilling proposed last week in The Wall Street Journal that housing prices could be increased by giving green cards to foreigners who buy a home in the United States. At its best, the proposal is a Trojan horse for opening the gates to immigration.

Why are banks giving houses to immigrants without legal status to work for the length of the mortgage?

From some perspectives, America has had, and continues to have, too few people.

This guy better get his head out of the ethereal clouds of his economic theories and start looking at the street corners with "immigrants" who have debased an entire section of low-skilled American workers. Spend the day at an unemployment office in some of the areas where the jobless rate is above 10 percent and you can find some highly-skilled American citizens desperately looking for anything. (I just heard that IBM is laying off more American workers and outsourcing the jobs to India--still looking for anything on the newswires.)
I really don't give a poop if you are some professor of economics. I suggest you study some sociology. Put too many rats in a cage, don't feed them enough and they turn to cannibalism.
IMO, we don't need any more immigrants, legal or illegal, until we can sort out the mess in this country and restore our economy for the benefit of legal Americans.
