Trump never said he was going to build a 2,200 mile wall. NEVER.

But Lankford is full of it, because Trump isn't buliding those wall prototypes to put up "fencing".

“People want to paint that it’s some 2,000-mile long, 30-foot-high wall of concrete. That’s not what he means and not what he tries to say,” said Sen. James Lankford(R-Okla.), who met with Trump at the White House Thursday.
“It’s $8 billion.… And of the 2,000 [miles], we don’t need 2,000, we need 1,000 because we have natural barriers, et cetera, et cetera, and I’m taking it price per square foot and a price per square, you know, per mile, and it’s a very simple calculation. I’m talking about precasts going up probably 35 to 40 feet up in the air. That’s high; that’s a real wall. It will actually look good. It’ll look, you know, as good as a wall is going to look.”

    — Donald Trump, interview with MSNBC, Feb. 9, 2016

“There’s going to be border fencing in some areas, there’s going to be vehicular barricades, there’s going to be technology, there’s going to be greater manpower in some areas,” he added. Lankford said Trump has been clear “in private.”
Not the wall Trump gave us the impression he was going to build during his campaign. Maybe we'll get a few token walls here and there, I don't know. However, it is becoming more and more clear that we are not going to get anything near what we were promised during the campaign. Vehicular barricades don't stop foot traffic, technology can be turned off and/or not used adequately (depending on future administrations). We need the big beautiful wall he promised us, not some pittance of fencing!

I also take exception with the comment by Lanford that Trump has been clear "in private." Hmm, does that mean he is telling the American public a lie?
