The leader of a Tucson drug trafficking organization was sentenced to 15 years in prison Tuesday for smuggling methamphetamine into the U.S. and illegally exporting firearms into Mexico.

Juan Carlos Delgado-Sagaste, 30, of Nogales, Sonora pleaded guilty to the charges in U.S. District Court on Sept. 6, said a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Delgado-Sagaste set up several stash houses in Tucson and Phoenix and was linked to an organization that smuggled firearms into Mexico, the release said.

A large amount of meth, hundreds of pounds of marijuana, 27 firearms, 1700 rounds of ammunition and more than $50,000 in cash was seized in the investigation involving several federal agencies, the release said.
