Tulsa Co., OK: Immigration Enforcement

Immigration Enforcement
Posted By: Phil Berman
Tulsa County Sheriff's Deputies may soon be pulling double duty as law enforcement officers and immigration agents.
Sheriff Stanley Glanz has filed an application with the Department of Homeland Security for what is called "287G" status.
If granted, the Department would essentially deputize the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office with the same authority that is held by its immigration and customs agents.
The sheriff believes this would help stop crimes against the hispanic community.
Opponents say it would have the opposite affect.
Glanz is working hard to get his application approved.
He talked with White House staff members and sent letters to two senators to ask for their assistance.
