Two sentenced for selling illegal documents to immigrants

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa A northern Wisconsin man has pleaded guilty in Iowa to selling false documents to illegal immigrants, has been sentenced to prison and will be deported.
Gerardo Uribe-Martin of Hazel Green and another man from Dubuque, Jorge Dominguez-Cervantes (dom-in-goo-ez ser-VAN'-tes), were sentenced yesterday in federal court in Iowa. They were arrested after a search of their apartment last March uncovered equipment and materials used to make false documents.

Federal prosecutors say the identities of more than 100 people were compromised during the fake document-making operation. As many as 16-hundred identity documents were seized during the search.

The men are natives of Veracruz, Mexico. They admitted that they produced false documents, including resident alien cards, Social Security Cards and drivers licenses for illegal immigrants.

Dominguez-Cervantes was sentenced to 95 months in prison. Uribe-Marin was sentenced to 81 months. They'll be deported after serving their sentences.
