$277K in cash seized at Gateway International Bridge

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and Border Patrol agents seized more than a quarter-million dollars in cash this weekend.

According to a CBP news release, the federal officers were checking vehicles leaving the United States and entering into Mexico at the Gateway International Bridge on Sunday when they referred the driver of a 2002 Ford F-150 to secondary inspection.

During a search of the pickup officers say they discovered 10 packages filled with undeclared money hidden within the truck. The cash totaled $277,405.

The driver, a 35-year-old Mexican national from Donna , money and vehicle were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
