    Border Patrol agents find hurt immigrant
    December 12, 2006

    U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents found an injured woman Saturday who was abandoned by a smuggler near the Falfurrias Border Patrol Checkpoint.

    A search was launched after agents received information of an undocumented immigrant possibly stranded in the area. After about two hours, agents found a 26-year-old Salvadoran national with a fractured leg about a mile from the checkpoint. She told agents she had been walking for several days before fracturing her leg. The smuggler then abandoned her.


    The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
