Illegal Immigrants Evade Police

PETRONILA - Deputies were doing routine patrols of the area near FM 892 when they came across a stolen SUV. When they tried to pull it over, the driver sped off, leading officers on a high speed chase.

The Chevy Yukon tore through a field before crashing into heavy brush. The SUV came to a halt when it got stuck, only inches away from a steep drop off to a river below. That's when 15 illegal immigrants bailed out of the car and disappeared into the brush.

Constables searched the area and were able to capture the driver. According to the driver, the group was from El Salvador. He was arrested and taken the the Nueces County Jail until Border Patrol Agents can come and pick him up.

Police say the vehicle was stolen from Clute, Texas and though they were able to stop the SUV, Constable Jimmy Rivera says it's only a "dent" in the growing problem.

An estimated 14 illegal Salvadorians remain loose in the area.

That is why the United States must deport all illegal aliens.
