Immigrant Leads Police To Stash House

(2009) NEAR ALTON - A suspected illegal immigrant helped police find a stash house off 107.

Police tell NEWSCHANNEL 5, just after 6:00pm Wednesday night, the man managed to get out of the home and seek help from a near by resident.

The immigrant told authorities the smugglers were holding them captive because their families had run out of money.

Police found seven immigrants from Honduras and Colombia in the home, and arrested the smuggler. He was also an illegal immigrant.

The seven men will be turned over to U.S. Border Patrol, the smuggler will face federal charges.
