Immigrants arrested after truck flees cops

Web Posted: 08/20/2007 10:43 PM CDT

    Express-News

After more than two hours of searching Monday, Victoria County officials detained 16 undocumented immigrants who fled when police stopped their truck.

Officials said they received a report of immigrant smuggling at 9:11 a.m. Deputies then chased the immigrants after an officer attempted to stop their truck, which matched the description in the call.

The immigrants fled from the vehicle around the Moody River Bridge over the Guadalupe River and scattered in a field. Fourteen were chased on foot, and two jumped into the water and were pulled from the river.

Among the detained are four juveniles ranging from 5 to 16.

    6 month detention after apprehension

We need to enact an automatic 6 month detention after apprehension; hard labor.... working the tomatos and potato patches needed to sustain them while they are on a mini vacation in the US.

2nd apprehension 1 year hard labor
3rd apprehension 5 year hard labor

This catch and release aint cutting the mustard
