Man shot in Juarez transported to Thomason

EL PASO - A man, who suffered life-threatening gunshot wounds in Juárez early Sunday, was transported to Thomason Hospital, El Paso Fire Department dispatch personnel and Thomason Hospital officials said.
The man, whose name was not released, was transported in critical condition to Thomason Hospital by ambulance. He remained in critical condition late Sunday, Thomason officials said.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday, emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the Bridge of the Americas. The man had suffered multiple bullet wounds in Juárez.

It is unknown if the man is a U.S. citizen.

More than 45 people injured in connection with the suspected drug cartel violence in Juárez have been treated at Thomason Hospital since the beginning of the year. At least 37 of the people treated at the Thomason Hospital were U.S. citizens and had proper documentation to enter the country, officials said.

Medical bills to treat those injured in Juárez have racked up to about $1.4 million, according to the El Paso Times archives.
