    ---------------------------------------------------------------
Federal law whose initial goal was to detain criminal aliens, is being implemented to arrest and deport people and humble workers.

    DAY WEEK

HOUSTON .- The "migration" did not even know it existed or was in United States. Federal authorities had nothing in the files refer to it simply because it had never been arrested. Moreover, migration agents would not find either one of these raids sporadically engaged in metropolitan Houston.
In fact, the INS did not lift even one finger against her. However, in view of the police agencies that work with immigration authorities, through the federal 287 (g) - undocumented immigrants as Marisela Aguilar, a Taquera of 28 years, ending immigration custody y. as she is about to be deported to their country.
From 2003 until May 2009, the Department of the Harris County Sheriff (HCSO) has identified and arrested about 27 thousand illegal immigrants entering its prisons. Since August 2008, after implementing the 287 (g), the HCSO has identified 10,508 illegal immigrants in its prisons, or about 36 percent of those arrested since 2003, have been arrested in the last 9 months of implementation the new collaborative program of the INS. Marisela is now part of this sad statistic.
The Houston Police (HPD) is following in the footsteps of the HCSO to want to implement this model of cooperation with the INS as it is Mayor Bill White had requested.

    Journey to the past
Nine years ago, she looked toward the north, United States, the country of opportunity, where he arrived with much excitement. And now, do not watch their will to the south, Mexico, the country that just had to leave to seek a better life for herself and her family.
She wants to visit her mother for 65 years living in Atoyac de Alvarez, a town in the Mexican state of Guerrero. But one of his dreams was just returning to their country with "American role" with the paper a permanent resident (green card) and then return to United States, where work and life is done. That is, at this moment she is in a situation that is very likely to return to the force, and is unlikely to return to United States. Back in Atoyac poverty are weighed down with her and her parents.
Like many of his countrymen and people around the world, Marisela began a long journey to reach the United States. Crossed throughout Mexico, arrived at Matamoros and was floating in the Rio Grande a tire. Stepped-guided by a "coyote" who charged $ 1500 for the cross-over four days in the arid southern Texas and dangerous territory and far from the "booths"-point inspection of migration, boarded a van that brought him to Houston. Here, some relatives were waiting for him and after two weeks, started working in a restaurant with his first earnings he paid the debt to pay the coyote.

    From dream to reality
Marisela always wanted to be a small entrepreneur. I wanted to be independent and earn enough money to have a comfortable and dignified life. Largely succeeded.
Indeed, after working for a time in the restaurant, she, along with who was then her husband bought a mobile taqueria, and a while later to take four to finally stay with just two.
Her life was changing for the better, economic progress, he sent his parents money to remodel and furnishing your home. To this is added the remittances sent to them constantly to sustain their families every day and a little more fun for him.
In Houston large and small investments. Still paying for a house that cost 140 thousand dollars, to which are added expenses made in respect of furniture in the living room, bedroom and dining. Separate account total costs paid by the car, the rental of lots and materials, furniture and other equipment for their business envelope.

    Change Recipient
Marisela also purchased two trucks. In one of them when he was an agent of the Harris County Sheriff stopped the first of May. That night, she said, she had been assaulted by blows to his new partner, and desperately, grabbed his car and went to a friend's house to seek refuge, but her friend did not care. Frustrated, he left the place and seconds later he saw a patrol with the lights still on. The officer requested him to show his driver's license, but she did not have. Then she was arrested because the police told her she smelled of alcohol. His truck was towed and a family had to pay $ 280 out of the Corralón.

THE ACTIVISTS SAY program like 287 (g) means that immigrant families are divided because they are not only criminals but immigrants in general end up being deported. "I asked the police why I was arresting me, being that so many people ill, dangerous, and not innocent and hard working like me. He also mentioned that I had bruises on his arm and into the eye, I was assaulted by my partner. I replied that I should make a complaint ... when you leave prison, "said Marisela.

    Road to nowhere
Being in a county jail, asked him if he had papers, to which she replied no, and innocent, I confessed that he was illegally in the country. With it, has Marisela were many undocumented immigrants. "I cried a lot. I was very sore for the humiliation to which I put my husband and the situation was going to be undocumented. I thought that everything that got in my life was destroyed. Other women also said they were crying because they left their homes to their young children, some parents, others with their families, "he said.
She was transferred to the prison in immigration, before taking off on Friday May 15 after paying bail of 10 thousand dollars. He commented that many immigrants imprisoned sign their immediate deportation because they have no money to pay bail or because they do not want to spend too much time locked in the prison.
On June 24 must be submitted to their first appointment at the immigration court. When asked how that would result if any cree, said: "I think I will send to Mexico." To be deported, would leave his home in Houston, its two mobile taquerias, a tire shop, their trucks, their lifestyle.
Above all, leave an unfinished dream ... Undocumented arrested by the Sheriff of Harris County in its prisons
    Year Number of papers
    2003 2.777
    2004 2.055
    2005 1.971
    2006 1.437
    2007 4.963
    2008 9.109 *
    2009 4.672 **
    Total: 26,984

    * In August 2008 the Department of the Harris County Sheriff (HCSO), began to implement 287 (g) and 9 of its employees engaged since that time to detect and identify the undocumented prisoners entering its prisons. ** The number includes those arrested until May 25, 2009.

    No answer ...
Marisela, like many other immigrants, he can not understand ...
Why the police involved in the implementation of immigration laws?
Why not cling to those who sell drugs in schools?
Why pick on people just for pleasure?
Why deport a person who has not done anything wrong?
Why I work Monday to Monday?
Why leave all the people that work?
    A wrecking ...
Estella Jimenez, a member of the Workers Against Racism and Discrimination, said that it is very sad that people like Marisela "being the victim of an unjust law." She said she knows the past six years and "he has seen fighting for your business, I have seen progress in this country, I have seen unveiled and working day and night in order to excel. It gives me great sadness to see it being destroyed in this manner which has earned much sacrifice. " Jimenez added: "United States is the land of opportunity, and it is sad to see how the overnight, so defeat. This situation not only affects her but her entire family. The implementation of this unjust law affects not only the undocumented but for all the children who are American citizens. "
    Division of families
Those who advocate 287g it as an "investigative tool" and as a way to deport criminal illegal immigrants, "while those against it described as" separating families. " This is the controversial partnership between police agencies and immigration authorities, falling on the police to arrest the migration function and to identify illegal immigrants and the role of sport, to the INS.
The Sheriff's Department and Harris County have time to implement the program 287 (g) and as the statistics shows, has resulted in the deportation of thousands of undocumented immigrants and the Houston Police (HPD) is following in his footsteps by wanting to implement this partnership model. Now, Mayor Bill White seeks to expand collaboration with HPD migration.
For his part, Gary L. Blankinship, president of the Union of Police Officers of Houston (HPOU wants, moreover, that the agents have the power to determine the immigration status of people in the streets.
    Tool or instigation
The activists say the program such as 287 (g) means that immigrant families are divided because they are not only criminals but illegal immigrants in general end up being deported, but Blankinship told Day that he wants this program is only as a research tool "for officers.
"In no way am suggesting that our officers out into the streets to arrest illegal immigrants if they commit no crimes," said Blankinship, who is president of the police union for 18 months and represent approximately 5300 officers.

This is hilarious! It had never been noticed and it had never been arrested! I am laughing about the whole thing with tears running down my face. Google ought to quit the translation business. This is priceless.

I would cry too if I was beat up by my partner and sitting in a Mexican jail because I sneaked across the border in a tire in the Rio Grande to get there. I would also take the free ride home and stay there but that's not how it works with many illegal aliens. They just come back.

They don't have driver's licenses but own several vehicles. The have never had a health screen and could have communicable diseases but they own a two mobile taquerias. They own a house and a tire shop.

Bet they don't pay taxes either.

She has been here now for years. If she did not establish a sustainable financial foundation for herself and her family in Atoyac, Guerrero in the years she was here it is not our fault. It is not now a responsibility for us to accomadate her for her violation of our rights. Atoyac is within commuting distance of Acapulco and if Atoyac did not have sufficient opportunity for jobs and investment she should have tried there

I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

I'd also bet they were getting benefits such as food stamps, health care etc.
It is a common sight to see immigrants here in NYC buy groceries at the supermarket with those white debit cards and then get into vehicles as nice or nicer than the one in the picture.

If I had all the taxes I've paid through the years, monies spent on health care for myself and family and just half of what I spent on food I could live in the Hamptons!
